Does Nick own the rights to the original theme song?

Just curious, can they use the original theme song if possible? Since it was pretty much the only good TMNT theme song ever, compared to anything else.

Unless they acquired the rights to the original cartoons I don't think they do.

Viacom owns the designs, characters and concepts for everything from the Fred Wolf cartoon.

The only thing they DON'T own are the episodes-themselves and the music, which are currently held by Lionsgate.

Viacom can license out all the Old Toon merchandise they want, they just can't touch the actual episodes of the series or its audio track.

I love the OT theme song as much as anyone here but I wouldn't want to hear a slightly altered "new" version of it like the transformers theme songs not to mention it worked for the OT but any more serious interpretation of the turtles deserve a more appropriate theme like say Batman/X-Men/Avatar and other action cartoons have.
