You won't believe what I found at the comic store today :)

I was at the comic store and right before I left I checked out the TMNT back issues. As always it was empty. Well, I looked a little further in the back of the box and guess what I found. The collected books 1 and 2. I grabbed them and my other comics I was getting a ran to the register. The guy started to ring up my order. When he got to the 2 collected books he looked at me and said "these are not marked but the cover price is $6.95" (or something like that) Then he asked me "Is a dollar each a fair price?" I looked at him and said yeah. I paid him a walked out. I looked at the reciept and to my surprise he only charged me a dollar for both. Man did I get a deal or what! I haven't found much information on these comic except that I read here that they are pretty rare. Did I get a good deal? Either way, I am sooooo glad that I found these.

I love pullin' stuff like that on comic book dealers. Like at my shop nearby I went in one day and found like 3 really early Sonic the Hedgehog issues, which are marked in Wizard to be like $30-40 each in mint condition. These were all in really good condition so I snagged them (even though I had them already) for like two bucks a piece. I looked it up to make sure, then mentioned it when I went back there the next week. They're really cool there though so they just laughed and were like "Yeah, you never know sometimes what you find if you look, a lot of that stuff probably just got mixed up in the Archie box".

Fun stuff. Comic shops rule.

My buddy Scott (TMNT571) Snagged the collection 1 book, full color off an AMAZON auction for about 7-8 bucks.Pretty cheap considering the Wizard price line.

Oops, my mistake I thought you meant the color collected ones, sorry to confuse anyone. That's STILL a killer find!

From what I've seen on ebay, the color albums are way more common then the b&w Collected Books.

The only collected book I ever found was #6, the "River" saga. I mail ordered the first 5 from Mirage.

Wow, nice find. I've looked for the collected B&W comics, but I've had no luck. I've found some of the color collected books done by First Publishing, but I'd really like to get the ones done by Mirage.

I hadn't had much luck in finding good deals at comic shops. Then I when to a few comic conventions... and I thought I died and went to heaven. So many dealers, and some are willing to bargain on the price (especially if yo're buying a whole bunch from em).

I have them all! There are seven total. I paid over $20 for number 1 (issues 1-11) on eBay

Great deal on those 2.

I have all regulars issues, +specials and the First publishing Color reprints. No real point in getting those TPB's.

how about for readability?

Yeah, actually I got all the TPB's first and then started on the regular books. I'm only like 5 books away from completion now...

Issues are very good to read, no need to browse trough lots of pages for specific story.

The bad part with the TPBs is that you don't have the original covers, letter pages, or the cool ads...
