Archie... Miragized?

Just a fun little side project I've been entertaining. I will likely never get anywhere with it, but it's amusing me for now.

The basic idea is that I'd go through all the Archie TMNTA comics and "Mirage-ize" them in Photoshop to suit Mirage continuity. Meaning, remove the letters, make all bandannas red, belts brown, tighten up the dialogue a little bit, make Krang a renegade Utrom they are meeting for the first time, etc., etc..

Anyway, here's a quick, unfinished sample:

I think it's a fun idea because I enjoy the Adventures comics.... but it does look kinda funny due to the style of drawing used. I actually thought you were gonna redraw the panels and I was like... wow that's a TON of work.... Fun idea though! I like your sample.

I have a great fondness for Mitchroney's style. It can be cartoony... with teeth.

(the Foot soldiers and all that in this would be changed to humans, blood and cuts and such added to battles)

Yeah, imagine the issue where they meet Mondo Gecko, the room full of robot Foot Soldiers -- you see heads and arms and legs flying everywhere.

Now imagine if they were human.

I've considered that. The Turtles would find it amusing that there's another "mutant" alligator and he would either pick a different "superhero" name or just stick with Jess Harley.

I think Oroku Saki will be someone... other than Oroku Saki, too.

This sounds like more trouble than it's worth. You would have to rewrite and explain:

1. Why this alligator looks like Leatherhead

2. Who is this Japanese man wearing Shredder's armor

3. Explain away Splinter's human origin, which comes up trough the series

4. Explain why and when April became a reporter.

5. The lack of Casey Jones.

6. How future Raph loses his eye here is different then Raph losing his eye

7. Why there are so many mutants

That's very possible.

He doesn't, though, really. And he has eyebrows.

It's not the same armor as seen in Mirage (though I'd retouch it a bit) and that could be explained quickly.

Not hard. The only time I can think of that would ever be a large issue would be Year of the Turtle, when he actually returns to human form.

4. Explain why and when April became a reporter.

Or... don't have her be a reporter.

5. The lack of Casey Jones.

I don't think that's all that problematic. But some references could be made to him.

That's a tough one.

7. Why there are so many mutants

Apart from the non-mutants like Jagwar, Dreadmon, etc., I was thinking the whole beginning part of the storyline would be the renegade Utrom Krang developing a new variety of mutagen.

Jess could be someone who was trying to hunt Leatherhead. He stole stuff from Mary Bones to help him hunt but when she catches him she turns him into "A leatherhead" as she oddly puts it in the book as punishment, and out of irony.

The eye thing could very easily be explained. There could be several alternate futures and the turtles always have a chance to change them. Raph knowing that Armaggon will attack them one day and that he will lose his eye in the fight might help him take precautions to avoid it from happening.

I dunna, Andy. Splinter's human origin may be quite problematic. it is referenced in quite a few issues. Issues with Shredder especially, since the relation ship is very different. Issue 45 will also be a bit of trouble, as it explains Yoshi's life in more detail.
As for April, would the "female reporter" become a generic character?

Talent at Photoshop would be a requirement. I would ask for help with pages being Mirage-ized... even if it's just doing the bandannas and belts and all that. Then send to me for final cleanup and all that.
