How far/popular will this series have to go to make it a success?

There are some cartoons that only last a couple seasons but remain successes. Generally, this only applies to original series. Given that this will be the third incarnation of an animated show, a lot is riding on helping, maintaining, or even hurting the TMNT brand. Of course everyone hopes that this show lasts 7-10 seasons, 150-200 episodes, new movies/video games, a surge in comic/toy collecting, and other merchandise like what happened in the wake of the Fred Wolf series. On the other hand, poor management, poor quality (i.e. bad show), or overhype can hurt the TMNT brand, which can even affect the earlier series; sure no matter what happens, there will always be fans of the older TMNT series for nostalgia, but that won't allow younger fans to "discover" the older stuff; this is why franchises such as Woody Woodpecker and Popeye, popular with Baby Boomers, no longer resonate with today's kids/young adults that well. We don't want TMNT to head in that direction.

At the end of the day, I'd say if the show went at least 5 seasons or 100 episodes, I'd consider it a success. Nick shows tend to get frequent reruns, so it is important for shows to be nearly as fresh the 10th time they're rerun before the next batch of episodes arrive. But this generation on the other hand is different; kids rather watch stuff on-demand, so having quality material is very important; it's not like before the Internet when I grew up where I simply watched what was on; today's kids tend to be better in terms of what they really want to watch. Plus, especially later in this potential run, you'll have parents of kids who grew up with the Fred Wolf toon, so good family friendly entertainment can go a long way toward success.

Considering the 4kids series was a success and its ratings were never very good, I'd say a show airing on Nick which will get a ton of promotion should do fine.

Since Nick owns the property, I can see them keeping the show alive for 7-8 years assuming it doesn't bomb quickly. I doubt it would though.

As much as I think you can't beat the original, I hope this show does very well. Very well, that it would have more seasons than Spongebob Squarepants. If that doesn't happen, then I'm still hoping that it does very well no matter what. It doesn't have to have 10 or 7 seasons to be successful. It can just be a great show that gets a lot of PR. If it does go up to 10 seasons, I may be amazed. The only problem with it having more seasons like 8 or 10 is the show may go downhill with inspiration and storylines. It still might be fun. I'm guessing that you found all 10 seasons fun from the OT series.

I guess we'll just have to see. Still, CyberCubed, what do you mean, "I doubt it would though"? Do you believe it won't be bad?

Saying that it was successful and in the same breath saying it had bad ratings isn't the best way to back yourself up on that statement.

Also, Nick doesn't mean instant success. Look at it's other cgi shows...

I think the show will day 5 years or less. 3 years is my guess.

I don't know. These are the TMNT. They're likely to do very well. Besides, I love The Penguins of Madagascar.

Nick does have some good CGI shows. I just don't like ones such as Fanboy and Chum Chum. That one looks like it'll be forgettable. With TMNT arriving, this will definitely be a replacement for shows like Spongebob and iCarly.

I think the show would get views do mainly to the voice acting crew besides that... I think this show will die slowly away. TMNT isn't really the most popular crud if you haven't noticed sir. Just because it is TMNT does not make it an instant success.

Sorry. I'm just hoping it becomes more popular. I'm getting tired of DC and Marvel superheroes getting all the spotlight. I do like them, though. Maybe it's something like Transformers that I don't like. I wish that wasn't that popular.

Don't be sorry. Who knows 100% what it will actually do. It might be a hit might be a miss. My guess is it won't last very long because of a lot of things that go through my mind about the entire thing...

It was decently successful for a cartoon airing today, although it obviously wasn't as popular as it could have been. 7 years, 156 episodes, a TV movie, and an extensive toy and videogame line to support it over those 7 years was a moderate success.

As for the Nick show, I doubt they wanted to spend $60 million on a franchise, support it for 3-5 years, and then dump it.

Well, that kinda my view on it. I want the show to do well, but I don't think that it is possible for the show to run 7 years let alone over 4 (at least without an hiatus). Though CGI is quick and convenient in many ways, as far as I know, it is not cheap. In less the show brings in a HUGE amount of dough through viewers and toys sales, eventually the cost out wins the benefit.

I don't know what's going to happen. Like I always say, "We'll just have to wait and see." I don't want to get my hopes up, but I hope this will be a good show.

Besides, I'm hoping TMNT is going to be big like Sponebob, but without all the idiocy and constant crying in every episode.

Nick is working very hard on this than they are with Supah Ninjas. I bet this will go far. Maybe not with 10 seasons, but just with the right amount of years. Maybe they'll stop the show when the turtles turn 21.

Besides, I wouldn't mind if this show had 7 seasons, as long as Nick doesn't have some stupid Fast Forward thing going on. Hopefully, they'll stay focused.
