How much should the IDW series influence the new series?

With the new IDW "Ongoing" series underway, this may lead to some interesting developments into how the early episodes are treated (always the most important as they definately set the tone). Keeping the Shredder for later maybe a decent idea (just include him in the opening credits, of course) to allow a story arc to develop. Since only a few issues at most will be done by production time, items such as the characters' origins and antagonists' primary plans will be compared heavily so that it must make good sense. Will the "real Krang" be a human like in IDW #1? Will there be an April flashback describing the origins of the Turtles/Splinter? Or will Nick throw a curve ball at us with an all-new origin/opening arc?

I didnt see krang as a human, he maybe a utrom in a cyber suit. I hope they do what ever it takes to get the masses like how Mirage and the OT were completely different.

The question must be asked: if IDW has a separate book to go along with the Nick series, will their stand alone mature TMNT book beat to its own drum regardless of what is going on in the Nick TMNT world? I think Mr. Waltz stated that it would once, but I'm a little foggy about the matter.

Should the IDW book have influence on the Nick series?

Why not? It's too early to tell but so far it seems as valid a take on TMNT as any other. If the whole 18 months for the turtles to grow to maturity thing turns out to be true I'd say that would be more fitting for a childrens cartoon

It hasn't so far. It seems that the series has been in development longer than the comic and we know for a fact it has a distinctly different feel and drasticaly different origin for the turtles involving a human Splinter and TCRI.

That's not unique to the IDW series. The movie series and the 4Kids animated series built up to the Shredder. From what we've heard that the Nick series will too.

What makes you think that the Krang we see in the IDW book is human and what makes you think there's a "real" Krang in the show?The Kraang that features on the show are some kind of hive mind race.

Well Bobby Curnow said that Nickleodeon has had input into the IDW series and believe Tom Waltz has said it too. It's plain to see the book while obviously different from the upcoming series using elements from the upcoming show. Wraps, much younger versions of April and Casey, Krang, an evil company manufacturing mutants etc.

It's understandable that Nickleodeon is going to want to maintain a certain level of brand identity across it's media. This gives me a bit uneasy about upcoming TMNt projects but it's their property.

He means that Splinter will be Hamato Yoshi first, then mutate to the rat we all know and love. Basically, very similar to the OT.

I'd like to see Old Hob in the Nick series. We can do with some new villains in the show.
