Casey Jones, high on cocaine?

So this might be a really dumb question, but i have always wondered: Does the Ninja Turtle's Casey Jones have anything to do with the Grateful Dead song?

ie: named after it.

Here's a link to the song in case someone here doesn't know the song im talking about

"Casey Jones" is about a railroad engineer whose train crashes. It was inspired by the story of an actual engineer named Casey Jones. The engineer's exploits were also sung of in an earlier folk song called "The Ballad of Casey Jones", which the Grateful Dead played live several times.

Yeah, there used to be a TV show called "Casey Jones", think it was from the 50s or 60s. Here in the UK, we used to have a fast-food chain called Casey Jones', they had a railway theme and were mostly in stations.

Ah thanks, I always wondered if Kevin or Peter had ever given any reason why they decided on the name Casey Jones.

Yes, he was named after the GD song. I read it on Steve Murphy's now-defunct blog the Fifth Turtle.

Besides The Grateful Dead, I know it to be a train from Dumbo.

I seriously think Mike should make a joke like that in the new series or something.

Casey probably thought it was cool to have his um "alter ego" be Casey Jones after the Grateful Dead song. Since his real name is Arthur Jones. I always thought his last name should have been something else, like arthur Cassidy or something, and his friends would call him Casey then he just decided to be Casey Jones when he beat the crap outta people doing crimes.

According to Kevin at SDCC two years ago, the origin of Casey Jones came from the "Casey at the Bat" poem. I remember Stephan posted it..

Makes sense to me, especially since his original design concepts had baseball hats/helmets, etc. Very baseball centric.

I thought about Casey at Bat, which I assume is always confused with the other mythical Casey (Jones)...kinda like the Michaelangelo misspelling.

His real full name is Arnold Casey Jones; but it was more Baseball type as Kevin talked about.

What's that? Some of the young whippersnappers here on the 'Drome haven't heard the Casey at the Bat poem? Well, let's just let Uncle Walt tell you how it went...

Casey at Bat makes a lot more sense. Boy im really glad Casey didnt end up wearing all baseball stuff. Somehow i dont think a batting helmet has the same intimidation factor that a hockey mask does...

Well, actually Murphy said that it was both the GD Casey Jones song and Casey at bat that inspired Kevin.

The Real Ghost Busters did an episode about the Ghost of Casey Jones where he tries to stop the outcome of his former train crash by reenacting it. It was a good episode.

I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of Casey. I liked him in the 4Kids series the first movie, and certain issues of the Mirage comics, but I kinda prefer him as a recurring character instead of a secondary character.
