Thumbs down Could computers replace voice actors in the future? Signs of that shift are here!

I was reading this thread on another forum and is mesmerized the thought of having digital data making radio announcers sound like robots. Sure, text-to-speech style voices still has a lot of development, but I feel like some changes can be in the offing outside of simply the radio world, such as voice actors for animated cartoons.

Here are some critical quotes from that thread:

"What is needed is a return to PEOPLE on the air not another way to get rid of more people."

"Sorry but this is reality. This is how the industry goes and if you do not roll with the punches and adapt to change you will be left behind. It is simply an alternative method for automation."

"Automation is taking over radio at an alarming rate so having something like this shouldn't be so surprising."

"Once the program can sound like Rick Dees, Casey Kasem, etc, then DJs from around the world can begin to panic."

I think that the switch from 2D animation to CGI is very TAME compared to this revolution unfolding that may affect guess what? Voices in cartoons. Just take a look at the TMNT-related clip on Youtube, "Fly No More", which uses those cheesy automated voices. But technology is making voices sound clearer and clearer every year through certain software, calculating the frequencies, amplitudes, and other trigometric qualities to deliver that "voice". I have an audio program that uses many unique effects that once some initial human work is done, all it will take is a computer to generate the proper articulation, pitch, rhythm, and mouth-style effects that voice actors use. It will be a sad day when your favorite show suddenly is using artifical intelligent personalities such as Denise. Please don't offend me, but this is a warning that people in the animation world could take care of. And young children probably couldn't understand the difference between human and digital voices, so that's a reason to switch simply due to money and time.
