Peter Laird's Input

I was just reading over Laird's back and forth emails with Lloyd about the approval of some 2k3 episodes, and i think the same relationship should happen between him and Nick. Although he can be a prick at times, he's saved the 2k3 show from minor and a few major flunks. I think it's safe to say that some Nick shows can get a little out of hand at times and Laird's input could make things run more smoothly and can almost ensure another Next Mutation or OT wont happen again. What do you guys think?

It won't happen. He sold the franchise because he was burnt out, and didn't want to work with it anymore.

I'd hope the Nick show is half as good as the OT was. Since its obviously not going to be like Mirage or 4kids.

Laird sold the franchise to Nick, so I doubt he'll have any input because he doesn't want to be involved anymore. That means we're stuck with whatever we get.

Considering the OT is the most succesful and most memorable version of the show ever, it's safe to say Peter's best contribution was to stay the f*ck out of the way.

Laird's had his way for years, to fluxuating degrees of success, now it's someone else's turn.

While the OT is the most memorable doesn't mean it was the best version to everyone. Everyone has their own favorite part of the franchise. For me it's the Mirage comics. I enjoy the OT but it was downright goofy from time to time.

With Laird being part of this show it aint happening. Like BubblyShell22 said he sold it cause he was done.

Where as the Mirage comics were too damn serious given how ridiculous it's premise was. The 4Kids cartoon couldnt get past a niche audience for the same reason.

It's clear what version was your favorite and that's cool. But to attack people based on theirs is silly and childish.

I realize that the Tmnt story as a whole is really, really ridiculous. But, that's the tone of that the creators gave the comics. It is what it is. Just because the 80s toon was ass-hat goofy doesn't mean that Mirage was ''too serious''.

laird, i don't see that happening, he is tired of the turtles, but Eastman is getting back into them so i could see him become involved if they ask him!

Methinks you've read very little of the Mirage comics.

"Great Oogly Moogly" & "Googala" were frequent quotes.

It was serious by comparison to the OT (which wasn't as goofy as many make it out to be) but it was loaded with jokes, too.

Jester, yes i did grow up watching knew episodes of the 2k3 show but inbetween i would pop in vhs's of the OT and watch both. I understand what your saying, but "vastly superior" is a little much. I love both shows but 2k3's storyline ran good to me (until FF, although Turtles Forever was amazing) and OT was so fluid and the characters were memorizing, also with the great animation it came with. but my favorite has always been 2k3 because it never sidetracked too much and took things more seriously. Plus april didnt get kidnapped every other episode. And as much as i know it wont happen, Lairds addition would be nice for the show.

Why do we keep making such a big stink over Peter Laird's opinion? Let the dude live his life! He wants to put the franchise behind him for a while, and we should respect that.

Well... why is he putting up "Ask Peter" Q&A posts on his TMNT blog for TMNT fans regularly? Should we just ignore those? Questions of his opinion are actually being solicited by him.

I'm just saying we shouldn't make a big deal about his responses and opinions. At the moment he seems to have this bitter feeling towards the Ninja Turtles, but maybe if we give him some time he may mellow out a little and look at the posative elements of the franchise instead of the negative ones.

There's is no truth. Only opinions. But in my opinion neither is better than the other. The FW series is a different animal and good for totally different reasons than the 4Kids series is good.

To be fair, I may prefer the OT a little more due to nostalgia, BUT last time I watched the series in a marathon, I could sit through more FW episodes than 4Kids episodes in one viewing..
