Looks like a rat snake of some sort. There is a species in spain and portugal which has coloration similar to that.
Your buddy is a boy. Probably just looking for water. |

Just watch out some coral snakes may look like milk snake. Coral snakes is super deadly. I tried to find this type of snake on the web but it is just not that easy. It may be a water moccasin but im not sure. Water moccasins are dangerous.

Ugh. That definitely isn't a poisonous snake.
it looks like a ladder back snake, which is a type of rat snake that isn't poisonous, and is native to Spain and Portugal.....which is the part of the world Luz lives in. It's markings are just mottled a bit, which isn't unusual at all. The only poison type snakes in that part of the world are brown...or vipers which have totally different shaped heads. |

Wow!!!!
Thanks to your info I finally found the specie.....not poison-one and not an exotic outside specie!!!! You are right : Ladder snake!!!!! The pic of a baby is exactly as Wikipedia info for ladder snake!!!!! : http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinechis_scalaris. Also the special pattern on body is tipical as "ladder" So this baby will be released safe and far from home!!!!!. THANKS so much everybody!!!!! ![]() ![]() !!!!
