What theme song has better lyrics?

What TMNT theme has better lyrics? the original cartoon, or the 2003 cartoon?

Here are the lyrics for the Original Cartoon

Teenage mutant ninja turtles (x3) heroes in a half-shell, Turtle power! They're the world's most fearsome fighting team! (we're really hip!) they're heroes in a half shell, and they're green! (hey, get a grip!) when the evil shredder attacks, these turtle boys don't cut him no slack! Teenage mutant ninja turtles (x2) splinter taught them to be ninja teens (he's a radical rat!) Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines (thats a fact jack!) Raphael is cool, but crude (give me a break!) Michelangelo is a party dude (PARTY!!!!!) Teenage mutant ninja turtles (x3) heroes in a half shell, turtle power!

Here are the lyrics for the 2003 cartoon

Turtles! teenage mutant ninja turtles, turtles count it off! 1, 2, 3, 4, turtles! mutant chain reaction (turtles) living underground! (turtles) ninjitsu action (turtles) it's a shell of a town! turtles count it off!
1! leonardo's always in control
2! the wise guy is michelangelo
3! Donatello he's the brains of the bunch
4! count on Raphael to throw the first punch!
I love being (i love being) i love being a turtle
Teenage mutant ninja turtles, Turtles count it off!

I got to go with the OT theme song. Not only is it more iconic, it's also super catchy.

It's going to be pretty difficult to top the original theme song. "When the evil Shredder attacks, these turtle boys don't cut no slack" is much cooler than the tepid "watch out for Shredder", plus 2003 lacks a splinter tidbit on the song. Still, the 2003 song is very good considering that most theme songs of the 2000s were bland, short, and poor. But the 1987 one will always be "the theme" associated with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I like the Old toon theme the best. I have theme tunes on my playlist i just enjoy the old toon theme more. But 2003 theme lyrics didn't it end with "1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 ninja turtles".

My thoughts exactly! I guess we have Charlie Sheen's arch nemesis to thank,Chuck Lorre.

Why exactly are the turtles "heroes in a half shell?"

I'm pretty sure they all have whole shells.

I guess I'll have to go with the Big Bang Theory's writer Chuck Lorre for this: the OT theme. It is more iconic and even the most memorable. Besides: I think they've revamped it for the 2k12 Nick series.

Still, I love the instrumental from the first movie that you hear in the main titles. Sounds like you can remix that tune with Madonna's "Express Yourself."

Plus, just to add something, Donatello19. These lyrics don't sound like anything I've heard on the 2k3 series.

1! leonardo's always in control
2! the wise guy is michelangelo
3! Donatello he's the brains of the bunch
4! count on Raphael to throw the first punch!

I've heard:

One! Live by the code of the martial arts.
Two! Never fight unless someone else starts.
Three! Always stick together no matter what.
Four! If all else fails then it's time to KICK BUTT!

Where did you get yours?

Those were Season 4 and 5's lyrics, Bauer536's are used for Seasons 1-3. That said, I enjoy Season 4-5's lyrics more since at least it provides the turtles' lines in the song, while Season 1-3's are just unpopular, though it does attempt to make the "Turtle Code" more famous.

I had that feeling in the back of my head, too. Thanks for clarifying.

The OT lyrics are pretty inaccurate but they're good. Not nearly as corny as the 2k3 song.

Of the 4kids show I have to say I liked the Fast Forward theme the best.

Especially when they say, "The more things change the more they also stay the same."

With all these new incarnations of TMNT and the differences between them, that line is so true.

OT theme has more nostalgia and is way catchier. I doubt any theme for the turtles could ever hope to top it, the OT theme is engraved in people's heads when they think turtles.

How many of you thought that the lyric after, "Don't know when they go home, how long their good times will last, but just stick around and see these Turtles..." was building to something surprising for a kid's show?

It depends which year they were born, of course.

The classic toon's theme will always hold a special place in my heart, but I also dug the 4Kids theme as well.
