The Official 2012-2013 Technodrome "Favorite Turtle" Poll & Discussion

*SEE THIS THREAD FOR OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE POLLS!*

As the title suggests, this is the official Technodrome 2012-2013 "Favorite Turtle" poll. So, Technodrome members, who is your favorite Turtle, and why?

I encourage discussion about why you prefer a certain Turtle, even if you feel blue in the face at this point in answering that question. Something you say might spur an interesting conservation about our favorite mutant reptiles. Please refrain from simply stating "My favorite Turtle is (insert name here)." Explain!

As for me, my true favorite will always be Donatello. He's been my Turtle of choice since I was young. I've gone on "kicks" with the other three, but Donnie holds the main spot. I relate to him most out of the four for many reasons. He enjoys intellectual battles rather than physical ones, which is a big reason I always favored Don. There is a darker, deeper side to his character that perhaps only Raphael can match. Perhaps that is because Laird also favors Donatello and therefore delved deeper into his character, likewise for Eastman and Raphael. Whatever the case, there's no denying that Donatello has a dark side that sometimes manifests itself in both Mirage, IDW, and even the OT.

My favorite version of Donnie is the first film, that movie holds a special place in my heart. I, unlike others here, enjoy the fact that he wasn't insanely technical to the point of Einstein genius: I like that he was still skilled in the area of mechanic (the Casey truck scene), a thinker (his hand is often on his chin denoting thought), and I liked how he let loose a little more often than we see in Mirage - an OT influence. However, the aforementioned character traits I believe are thanks to the Mirage influence that clearly permeates through the first film.

I could go on about Donnie (See "The Donatello Thread")...anyway, who is your favorite, and why?!

It's all about Donatello, yo. They're all wonderful and relatable, but Donnie was always the coolest to me.

I'd really like to see Donatello taken in a somewhat different direction than the sci-fi technician or Mr. Fix-It (though the latter is pretty well necessary to explain the survival of aquatic reptiles in a sewer). Anyways, I like to imagine a version of Don whose genius is a little more theoretical. Like he studies philosophy, psychology, and maybe even music theory and composition, besides the computer hacking, power rigging and water reserve maintenance. I like him more as the introspective defender than the mega-genius pacifist.

Curiously, I had the idea for Don to have a naginata blade extend from his (and Mikey using a kusarigama has felt appropriate to me since) roughly five years ago. Imagine my surprise...

I agree, and this is why I believe I favor movie 1 Donnie the most. He's sort of Mr. Fix-it, but he's not pigeon-holed into the role of ridiculously gifted technician. Yes, I'd say I also favor a more theoretical Donatello whose interests branch further out into the web of intellectualism, beyond computers and mechanics.

Donatello does do that, of course. I'd just like to see even more of it.

It's just something about Donatello composing music that feels right to me. Probably would be even cooler if he kept it private from his brothers. I've mentioned my idea for Leo to keep bonsai as a hobby, before. Semi-related.

The other thing about the first film's Donatello was that he was pretty well established as buddying up with Mikey. Since my younger brother's favourite is Michelangelo, it always made them feel like they really represented us.

Hm, I suppose I could see Don dabbling in music, but I would think Leo would be equally capable of composition, especially in the vein of traditional Japanese. Of course, we're bordering on fan-fiction here but I don't think it's absurd to discuss it!

That last paragraph you wrote brings to mind my own bond with my sister and cousins, with whom the Turtles still play a huge role. Especially as they are in the first film, Don being my favorite represented me, my little sister favored Mikey so she played as him, Leo and Raph were favored by my cousins. It's a special bond that still persists to this day, those Turtles still represent us. A lot of non-TMNT fans wouldn't understand.

Curiously, Michelangelo is my least favourite. Don't get me wrong; he's awesome, but if I had to put them in order, he'd be last, unfortunately.

I decided to choose Raphael because he's tough, but he does have a soft side. And i know that it doesn't really matter but my favorite color is red.

Mikey, he is just a really likable guy. I love that he is the heart of the team and really brings on the humor! The party dude will forever remain my favorite turtle- no doubt about it!

Donatello is My favorite turtle and always will be! He is smart, the least violent, and most relaxed of the four turtles.

If anybody from the community recalls, Leonardo was voted most popular in the last "Favorite Turtle" poll (not under this new system, but on the Technodrome), but he also won the "Least Favorite Turtle" poll. Go figure.

I've always loved Leonardo and Donatello. Younger, I looked up to Leo as a role model, he always seemed like a good role model to me, despite having a shell and swords. As I got older and older, I started leaning towards Donnie because I can relate with him to an extent and his personality is really lovable (but aren't they all?). Now I'm at the point where Donatello is my favorite, like many others, as this poll would seem to indicate.
