TMNT Classics, Vol. 1 TPB

TMNT Classics, Vol. 1 TPB is now closer to release...looks to be on target for August but exact day is still unknown. It may be on or around the same day as TMNT Classics, Vol. 2 (which is currently Aug. 15).

The contents of this book have changed significantly from original solicitation back in April. This is now what TMNT Classics Vol. 1 TPB will contain:

TMNT Vol. I (Mirage) issue #13 along with a collection of many short stories from the Shell Shock TPB, including “Bottoming Out,” “Junkman,” “New York Ninja,” “Word Warriors,” “49th St. Stompers,” “O-Deed,” “The Road Trip,” “Don’t Judge a Book,” “A Splinter in the Eye of God?“, “Night Life,” and “Meanwhile… 1,000,000 B.C.“

Not sure of the reasoning behind the changes. #16 was moved to Vol. 2 but not sure what happened to #18.

13 should have been in the Ultimate collections to begin with. Maybe they just want to separate it from those one shot stories.

Hey, rich do you know someone at IDW? Because it always seems like you have info before anyone else.

Maybe...

Seriously though, I know a few people in the comic book industry that I rely on to keep me up to date on all things TMNT. I hope you find all the information valuable.

Ah, do you know what Volume 2's changed to yet, then? Because 1 and 2 have changed around a bit in solicitations.

Correct. Thanks Xav.

Vol. 2 is still the same as what was solicited. #16 was originally going to be part of Vol. 1

I don't get it, why have a bunch of shorts and one regular issue? Why not have all the shorts in one book completely? The way their doing the Tales of TMNT, Classics and Adventures TPB's is making it really questionable on how they're handling these TMNT reprints. Its turned me off so far. The only thing is color for the old stuff thats kinda OK somewhat. Its the only faint value in the Classics line.

Agreed. The Ultimate Collections are done well but the other trades seem to be off to me.

How are they ever going to collect all of Volume 1 with random collections like this with only one real issue?

Maybe 18 was moved to the ultimate collection? It was co-written by Kevin after all.

Although not officially out yet, Ultimate Collection Volume 3 was included in the set sold at comic con. Maybe someone who bought it can confirm if #18 was included? I doubt it, though.

According to the "Look inside" function, the third volume covers 12, 14, 15, 17, and 19-21. I imagine they might just put issues 18 with either Classics Vol. 2 (which was last said as 16 and 22-23, wasn't it?) or 3 (not yet detailed).

This does seem a bit ridiculous to me. Its not so much a collection if it only has one issue.

I know IDW has to make money off these books so they're spreading them thin to release more volumes, but they run the risk of people either losing interest or feeling a bit ripped off.

I hope this does not bode ill.

Is this still in color. The updated Solicitation doesn't mention. I know we've heard from Bobby multiple times that it will be in color, but considering this new information I just wanted confirmation.

I was on the fence about this back when it was 13, 16, and 18 in color. Now that its just one issue. It just doesn't seem worth it.

Confirmed that this is full color throughout.
