Most Valuable Turtles

I'm curious as to which Turtles figures are the most valuable. I know Scratch is the most valuable overall, but I'm talking about the four turtles themselves.

If I had to guess, it seems like the Movie Star Turtles are. Not surprising, because the limbs were detachable from the shell. I bet finding them in one piece is really difficult.

The giant Turtles figures seem to always be pricy too.

Luckily the original four turtles were issued enough times that there seems to be a decent supply of them.

I'd say the Undercover Turtles. They were tail enders and you rarely see them carded. When you do, they fetch a pretty penny.

After that probably the Movie Star figures. They're not that rare, but they're probably the most poplar set in general. A complete loose one will run you about $40-50 and a carded one between $75-115. There's some rare versions on different cards and weapon variations, but that's the general price.

The Sideshow Turtles, The 2012 Toy Fair exclusives, and the Cold Cast figures (especially Donatello) tend to really blow away those that you have listed, catering to a more upscale market, all costing around $750-$1500 for each set of four.

on my radar:

Purple Armour European Shredders
Scratch
Undercover turtles with cloth

and the ultimate:

Old 1988 shredder, foot soldiers, bebop and rocksteady with fan club forms...these are errors and should have only been included with the 4 turtles only

The late Undercover Turtles with cloth seem very rare, I have heard first of them in this forums. Ebay has only Michelangelo presently. The German Super Shredder is also very rare, MOC and loose with all accessoires.

Do you ever talk about anything other than purple armoed shredder? There are far more rare items out there.

You can read, I talked about the Undercover Turtles, for example. And Purple Shredder is one rare item, too. I haven't seen it in some BIG collections here. The talks I had with a few members here have shown that, if you like it or not. But the black MAILAWAY Shredder is rare, too. Maybe you like that one more...

for the record, Rarest =/= Most Valuable.

Scratch for instance, is about a billion times more common than Purple armor super shredder, and yet costs between 8 and 20 times more.

Shogun Triceraton is up there, from what I've seen.

Ok. Can you give an example? Which figure is rare and not valuable?

Supply and Demand LOL. Scratch is more sought after thus driving the price way up beyond those with much smaller production runs! I guess you could say it's rare from an availability standpoint, but not from an existence standpoint.

No Stripe April comes immediately to mind.

Purple Armor Super Shredder varies wildly and is often snatched up on foreign sites for 10 to 20 dollars.

Lots of random variants. Hat-On Ace Duck, Color Change Ray Fillet, etc.

I know this isn't one of the four Turtles but I think that the Warrior Robot Rocksteady is probably the rarest Ninja Turtle figure. I have only seen one on ebay in the past few months. I've seen many Scratches, Shogun Shoates, Shogun Triceratons, Hot Spot, and a few purple armored Super Shredders, so it seems that it is much more rare than any of the other rare figures. Does anyone agree or disagree?

I think there is an example in his statement, the part about super shredder and scratch.

It's up there, but as far as being able to say "This is undoubtedly the rarest figure e-var!" I don't think that is possible to figure out without knowing the hard production numbers from playmates. Which we don't have.

Most likely, the lowest production numbers came out of the Next Mutation line. Since they were being produced in the twilight of the first "Turtlemania" period.

It's possible Warrior Rocksteady was a very low production run as well since the paint application was so flawed.
