What should Rat King's origin in the OT been?

As we all know, The Rat King never had an origin story in the OT. He was just a crazy human living in the sewers who was able to get rats to obey him. However unlike other incarnations, this Rat King looked normal under the bandages and wasn't deformed in any way.

Given the sheer mass of mad scientists in the original toon, do you think Rat King was once brilliant? Or perhaps a criminal in similar vain to Big Louie? He was always intelligent in the OT too, to the point where he tried creating his own mutagen and working with Shredder and Leatherhead.

Kinda perfer him without an origin. But he obviously wasn't born the Rat King. I guess due to his chemical know-how he could have been a chemist once. I assume he just went nuts and lost everything, found comfort in the sewers and rats and eventually trained them. Trained them so much that he started considering himself a rat. I remember an episode had him claim revenge on all humans and one of the mutants (Anthrax maybe?) said he was a human too and Rat King took offense.

Anthrax is an alien from Dimension x, Scumbug was the one who was previously human.

Oldmanwinters came up with the idea he had an origin that echoes Scarecrow/Jonathan Crane's in that he was a college professor that was fired after "crackpot" experiments. He than went to the sewers where he would be among the rats that were the only ones that seemed to understand him and slowly became warped into the Rat King seeking revenge on the scoiety that shunned him and his brilliance. I agree with that concept and added a couple of details just for a fan idea that works well with the character has he was portrayed in the '87 cartoon.

Cubed,Coola is referring to an exchange between Rat King and Scumbug in Night of The Rogues. Scumbug is confused at Rat King's statement of wanting rats to rule over human taking their rightful place with him as their leader. He reminds Rat King he is a human to which Rat King replied, "I resent that remark" saying in other words he thinks of himself as a rat.

I remember one or both being in 'Night of the Rogues' and I know that was their origin in the toys but I think in the cartoon Shredder and Krang just called out 'and this is Anthrax and Scumbug' without really explaining much. Either way whoever said the line just mentioned Rat King being a human, but said nothing of themselves.

Write fanfiction about it! I really like the idea of guy who tried a science carrier, but was fired (proabably because they feared his ideas would be usef for bad purpose).

Or maybe he was also playing music, and also studied science in a university! He could have been fired from playing in some local orchestra/folk music/classical music (or wrhatever genres use flute). So when he learned to cotnrol rats with playing the flute, he wanted revenge on society.

I doubt he think's he's a rat. He's just so fanatic that he talks in such a manner.

Swede, any reason YOU can't write a fan fic, and have to press everyone in every thread to write some?

The people of Hamelin found The Pied Piper, beat him senseless and left him for dead. After waking up with amnesia, he rediscovered the hypnotic effect his flute had on rats and decided to try his hand at world domination

So, he packed up his stuff and he moved to NYC. Sewers, that is.

Bronx born and raised
On the playground is where he spent most of his days
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool
And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys, they were up to no good
Started making trouble in his neighborhood
He got in one little fight and his mom got scared
And said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Queens"

I just made a sound akin to unholy laughter at this.

Immortality, duh. I guess you're always telling everyone else to write a fic cuz you're too unimaginative to do so yourself.

Thankfully, 1987 show Rat King was not that way (immortality).

Maybe Rat King is the original Pied Piper's descendant.

So, he just inherited his grampa's flute? Plausible. Good job.

I always wondered how his obsessive crave to be amongst and living like the rats came about. From a freudian perspective he most likely had a close connection with a rat or rats durring his childhood or something like that. I'm sticking with something as simple like this; he got lost in the sewers one day and had no one else than the rats to keep him company, and suddenly one day something clicked and he became the rat king.

Him thinking he's a rat could imply he was found and raised by rats. Maybe his parents weren't ready to have a kid, so they dumped him in the sewer when he was a baby. The rats probably found him later on. In that zany universe, I wouldn't be surprised if that was true.

It shocked me when the turtles finally captured him and brought him to justice. He didn't escape to fight another day or anything. I guess the writers wanted to wrap up his story for good.

Clearly (I made up) he is a lesser demon cursed to live in human filth, and has been on earth since the dawn of man... he caused the Black Plague in 1348.

Maybe he escaped from a mental institution? And hid himself in the sewers ever since.

It's not a special flute, it's the tune he plays.
