Photos Hotlinked From Facebook Not Showing Up

A lot of the time I see people making blank posts, with others reacting to an alleged picture. If I quote the original post, I can see they have the image url of a Facebook picture in [img] tags, but for some reason it never shows up in the actual posts. It doesn't matter if my cache/history/etc is cleared, it never shows. Any idea why this would be? Anyone else having this issue?

I wonder if it has to do with the poster's FB privacy settings.

If they're linking to the actual image location, the privacy settings wouldn't matter. AFAIK, the images should appear as they would if hosted on any other site. Curious that they're not.

Could you link to a post that shows an example of this issue?

Works for me, wonder if it has anything to do with facebook cookies. i'd try clearing them, checking, then logging into fb, checking again

What happens when you click these links? Be sure to clear your cache first.

(Should be one of the photos from that thread)

https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/
(Should be a Facebook page that says "Sorry, something went wrong.")

They appear exactly as you said they should, but still nothing in the thread itself.

It sounds like it could be a browser setting or add-on that is causing this problem. Do you still notice it when trying another browser (or another PC)? Does anyone else notice the same problem?

I guess that must be the case... I'm using Chrome, which is where the pictures fail to appear, but when I tried it in Internet Explorer, they showed up. Given the add-ons I use I don't see why any would cause such an issue, though...
