1992 Rock ´N´ Roll Muta-Bus

Hello Dear Dromers, Back in 1992 this Vehicle came out as part of the Mutations Series or should I say Robots...I mean Vehicles in disguise?.

The toybox art was good, although I cannot compare it with anything done before because this was a new era of the Tmnt Playmates toys.

The Vehicle itself was nice, love the mutation and the stage itself, I don´t like the excessive number of decals to replace the lack of details. Despite that, the Mutations Series proved to be very good and what I like the most is that this vehicle its a kind of “homage” to the 1990 “Coming out of their Shells Tour” that many of us (not me) got the chance to see live.

I consider that the 1991 Rock N´Roll Turtles (the real owners of this vehicle) should have been made with the Movie Star II face/body so they caoudl match with “Coming out of their Shells Tour” but I guess we can´t have il all.

The Rock´N´Roll Muta-Bus did not appear on the original Tv Series but if you already got the 1991 Rock N´Roll Turtles and you liked the Coming out of their Shells tour, then this is a must have.

Here´s a good review on youtube of the Rock N´Roll Muta Bus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK7RBTTAAOE

and finally here is featured in the 1992 and in the 1993 Playmates toy catalog

Hope you liked and thanks for reading. What do you think about this vehicle? Do you got it?

Any memories you wanna share from where you bought and saw it the very first time?

Thanks for reading.

P.D.: Pizza power?

This is another vehicle I had as a kid, I really enjoyed playing with it, and also sold this when I moved to Chicago. It's a weird vehicle just because I never thought of the turtles as being musically inclined (especially with them having only three fingers). I repurchased it MIB because of the box art and the childhood memories. I also like this vehicle because they had turtle themed figures to go with it as well as rock and roll mondo gecko.

The advertisements are a bit strange, Rock N Roll Bus has the R&R Turtles, but the muta carrier which is military inspired has movie II turtles...hmmmm

I never had this - I remember seeing it in stores and thinking it was silly. (Sure, I was okay with the blimp, but a SCHOOL BUS?? Now you've gone too far!) Now that you mention it, I kind of wish the Rock'N'Roll Turtles looked more like the Coming Out of Their Shells Turtles.... But "synergy" was never a strong point with the Turtles.

Suine Hallock's review of this has made me very tempted to buy this. Of course, I then have to buy all the Rock N Roll Turtles...

I think by '92 the shark Playmates had jumped was a mere spec in the distance.

The only reason i want this item is because i have 4 complete rock and roll turtles and the rockin Mondo Gecko. This is the perfect thing to display the 5 figures on. That said i'll only pick this up if i find it for cheap.

Have it, hate it.

Muta-Carrier is the only vehicle I hate more. I hate the Muta-Carrier with a passion. What a-hole designed it?

I think this bus would look best with 2012 April inside of it heading to class along with the Nick Turtles. I did have a couple of ordinary school bus diecast vehicles growing up, but most people were too young to understand that it was for a musical tour bus, not a high school bus.

I had a friend who had this along with all the R&R Turtles. He had the soundtrack cassette tape to Secret of the Ooze and we would play Ninja Rap and have the R&R Turtles sing and dance to it.

The Rock 'N' Roll stuff sold great with all of the other musical toys at the time. By '92, all of the Hit Stix stuff was collecting dust in small toy stores. Kenner Bill and Ted/ Hasbro's version of Teddy Ruxpin were around.

I always imagined the Rock 'N' Roll figures (including Rock 'N' Rock Mondo Gecko) playing to a bunch of Foot Soldiers. That would have been awesome! Put April (any April) in there to interview the Turtles, and you have a scene.

Someone has to group all of the Rock 'N' Roll stuff with the Coming Out of Their Shells merchandise. I have not seen anyone do it yet, but I know that display is out there.
