OT ep: Season 8 finale, "Turtle Trek" (Bebop/Rocksteady's finale)

Season 8's finale is another bittersweet episode of the series....it marks Bebop and Rocksteady's FINAL appearance in the show. The two loveable villains who debuted in the first episode back in 1987 would make their final appearance in the show in 1994. We wouldn't see them again for 15+ years until Turtles Forever.

This episode deals with the Turtles chasing Shredder/Krang back into Dimension X and befriending an alien who acts as their guide there. They get into random skirmishes with other Dimension X aliens.

This episode also marks the final Rock Soldier battle of the series. Sadly General Traag doesn't take part, (we see him talking to Krang earlier in the episode, but he doesn't appear after that), and the Turtles defeat some Rock Soldiers for the last time in the series. At the end of the episode the Turtles destroy the Technodrome's engines, Shredder and Krang are defeated, and the plant creature pulls the Technodrome into a ditch. Again, we see the Turtles battle Bebop and Rocksteady one last time and throw them into a room.

Raphael's last quip about Bebop and Rockseady after defeating them were, "Gee, I almost feel sorry for those guys." Yes, Raphael, yes you do.

Bebop and Rocksteady will always have a place in our hearts, even if they never re-appear in a cartoon again.

Yep. I love Bebop and Rockstedy. They were some awesome, bumbling henchmen.

Totally. I'd rather have nothing at all then something that just barely missed the mark. Because its just that important to me.

I just wish Season 8 was at least a 13 episode season like Season 7 was. Whoever heard of a cartoon being renewed for an 8 episode season anyway?

I bet if it were 13 episodes both Baxter and Leatherhead would have gotten an episode like Rat King and Casey Jones did.

Well Transformers only got commisioned for three episodes in the last season, so it could have been worse, and as we all know the first season of classic TMNT was five eps (even though five part pilots were the norm back then, they usually were never a whole season)

I don't think so with Baxter trapped in limbo and Leatherhead running off with the other villains unless they wanted to do a Night of the Rogues Part 2 it probably wouldn't have happened.

Baxter came back from limbo like 3 times before. If there were more episodes we probably would have seen more old villains return for a final appearance.

This was a great episode. I liked "The Wrecking Crew" guys. Also when they faced the dinosaur they went up a hill and found out it was breathing and it turned out to be an even bigger creature. That's kinda scarier than watching King Kong or Jurassic Park in a way.

I was sad to never see Bebop and Rocksteady again though. I wonder why they didn't show up in season 10 when Shredder and Krang came back.

What I wonder is how the Technodrome got out of that pit the plant monster dragged it in. In Divide and Conquer, it was back on the surface.

According to the Jeffery Scott interview that used to be on ninjaturtles.com, he was told by Fred Wolf not to bring Bebop/Rocksteady back in Season 10. So that's why it was only Shredder and Krang.

I wonder how Bebop and Rocksteady felt when they were left alone on Dimension X somewhere without Shredder/Krang.

When I saw that episode for the first time, it finally had a moment of resolution unlike earlier episodes from that season with the negative public reception and escaping. If this turned out to be the last episode of the series which I always thought it could have been the way the popularity had declined, I would have felt fine with it. But having flashback footage of this fight scene in the Shredder/Krang arc in Season 10 shows that its one of the most important moments of the Red Sky era, and is my second favorite Season 8 episode after Get Shredder.

I think that the disintegrator unit circuit's overloaded when the Technodrome was launched from that monster trap and Bebop and Rocksteady, being the imbeciles they are thinking that it would be a safe room from impacts due to its solid walls, ended up dying because of that.

After this episode took place, they did appear in a handheld game, now working for Berserko. So maybe the villains split up because they REALLY had no Technodrome anymore.

I doubt a handheld game counts as canon. Berserko was captured on Earth anyway, he didn't escape to Dimension X.

I just assume Bebop and Rocksteady were still on that Ballarithon planet they left them on. There was other intelligent life there so maybe they stole a spaceship and took off in search of Shredder and Krang.
