Shredder Cast? Sounds like Col. Schrader

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Adds William Fichtner

By DOMINIC PATTEN | Thursday May 9, 2013 @ 4:39pm PDT

EXCLUSIVE: He’s not playing a turtle in Paramount’s reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but William Fichtner is on board for the movie. Details on the actor’s role are sketchy, but Fichtner is said to be playing a lead with iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology. A lead in last year’s Nat Geo TV movie Seal Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden, Fichtner was a semi-regular on the last two seasons of HBO’s Entourage and also appeared on The West Wing as well as in 2008′s The Dark Knight. Turtles is the third blockbuster in a row* the actor has coming up now joining his villainous Butch Cavendish in Disney’s The Lone Ranger*with Johnny Depp and his appearance in the Neil Blomkamp-directed Elysium alongside Matt Damon. Both those movies are coming out this summer, while Turtles is being released on June 6, 2014. As for the Turtles themselves, as Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr revealed in March, Hunger Games: Catching Fire’s Alan Ritchson will play Raphael in the Jonathan Liebesman-directed*movie, Pete Ploszek*will play Leonardo,*Jeremy Howard*will play Donatello, and*Noel Fisher*will play Michelangelo. Megan Fox is set to play the lead female role in the movie that her Transformers director Michael Bay is producing. Fichtner is repped by Intellectual Artists Management.

Interesting....dude is a good actor, so we'll see what they do with him. Praying this isn't linked to "schrader". I wouldn't see him as a good fit for that or an actual "Shredder", so I dunno.

I'll be honest, Schrader is one of the lesser problems I had with that script.

He'd certainly be a good Rat King...

Once again, casting choices made hear in response a resounding "Huh?" from the collective fanbase.

Well, I'm still being optimistic. I really like this guy... I don't want him to be Colonel Schrader, but, we don't even know his part yet.

Schrader makes sense with the Foot we have. I'm down.

I could easily see him as a Baxter Stockman type, though, I'm sort of hoping that character isn't in this movie....

I'm betting on him being an Utrom/Kraang in human form.

Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad/Revolution is the ONLY logical choice for someone to play Baxter. I'd absolutely love to see him in that role down the line.

If its not shredder then what other iconic character to the turtles lore can it be? It's gotta be shred head.

The article says he's playing a lead. Hopefully Burne isn't a lead.

And we have our Colonel Schrader. I just hope they've changed his name or at least make it clear enough that he's not a substitute for Shredder so we can then get a proper version of him in a sequel.

He doesn't strike me as main villain material.

If Deadline's source is correct, and he's playing "a lead with iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology," that makes for a pretty short list of possibilities. Doesn't necessarily mean villain, though. But i think he'd be a good fit for Schrader.

If he's Schrader, he doesn't need to be tied to Spliter's story. Because he's not Shredder.

Why give him such a similar name and have him command the Foot though if they intended to use Shredder?

Saving the main villain for a sequel that's at least 3 years away from this one doesn't sound like a smart idea. By that point the Nick cartoon could be in its waning phase.
