1987 tmnt edited on film?

the credits for the tmnt dvds do not seem to list video tape editors like rockos modern life/batman/superman the animated series. is there any info out there on what medium was used for final edit?

So if the series ever needed to be restored, would they use these copies as the source?

That's exactly what they did, save for some episodes that happened to transfer from VHS releases that still have the FHE paintbrush logo at the end. Since Lionsgate tends to be basic with their DVD releases, any number of formats could have been converted, from the master reels above to local tapes distributed for syndication, VHS masters, or tapes for broadcast derived from the reels. A good case is the Season 10 episodes on the first DVD release which retained the CBS Action Zone bumpers from the network. Most broadcasted TV series since the late 1980s still exists via master reels/tapes, so there should be no problem restoring for future releases/reruns, provided that the restoration equipment is properly done.
