Lego game discussion thread
Hello there I haven't noticed but I always wondered does anyone else play Lego games such as Lego Star Wars , Lego Lord of the Rings , Lego Indinana Jones ,etc... I hope this becomes a sticky, so it will be the official Lego game discussion thread.

LEGO Lord of the Rings (PC) and LEGO City Undercover (Wii U) are my favorites. LEGO Batman 2 (also PC version) would be third. I've been playing them since the Star Wars LEGO games on PS2!
Looking forward to any future LEGO games... including the announced LEGO Marvel Universe. Would like to see LEGO Hobbit, LEGO TMNT (of course), and uhh, heck just about anything... They finally approved a LEGO Back to the Future set coming out soon, maybe they could do a BTTF game? :p I haven't played the LEGO Chima game on 3DS/Vita, but if they did a full-fledged game on consoles/PC i would look into it. One thing is for sure, while the progress on improving the games has been slow, they are now starting to get pretty good. Open World gameplay, item switching, voice acting... things like that are making them a lot more interesting. |

That's funny this came up, I just started playing Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga for Xbox 360 yesterday. I'd beaten the originals for PS2 ans GameCube ages ago but just got around to playing the compilation.
I've played/own most of them except the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean ones. I like 'em. Kind of repetitive but a fun way to waste a weekend. |

Never played any of these Lego games.
If they do make Lego TMNT as a video game it will be the first one I play. |

Okay, I'm very clueless about this, and I'm going to need to be schooled on it
Thanks for teaching to this completely uninformed individual. |

No, they aren't. They're decent little games, especially for kids, but they're nowhere near amazing. The first few were novel, but now it's just a palette swapped cash grab.
This is coming from someone who owns and has played the majority of them. They're complete fluff, which isn't a bad thing, but they're by no means worth recommending, especially if you're not already a fan of the franchises the games are based on. |

That's the point though, they're well made kids games.
Kids these days aren't growing up with cartoony platformers or sidescrollers like we did in the 90's. They're growing up with Call of Duty and Madden. That's why these Lego games are perfect for kids who don't own Nintendo consoles. They're simple fun games that aren't casual crap or terrible games like you used to find on past systems. |

No one was refuting the fact that they're well made games for kids. I said as much in my post.
For once, make a point that someone else hasn't already made. |

I like 'em for what they are. Pretty decent little time wasters. Lego has so many franchises that I love now, I'll probably keep playing them as long as I don't get bored. If I played more than 1 every year or two I would get tired of them. The Marvel one looks kinda neat.

They're just dumb and clever fun. If you're a fan of whatever franchise they're Lego-ing, they're way better, but they're cool because pretty much anyone can have fun with them (even though they're way easy), they have good cross-over appeal between different age groups, there's lots of pointless collecting for OCD types (like me), simple multiplayer. They're not deep or overwhelmingly fantastic but they're neat.
They are very formulaic, though. If you've played one, you pretty much play the others just to see the same formula applied: famous scenes from popular films done entirely in Legos. I mean if you haven't played them at all, they're really clever on the first playthrough, with all the in-jokes and whatnot. I highly doubt they'd do a TMNT one, though stranger things have happened. TMNT would have to become a lot more popular than it is right now for them to even consider it. But that's no big deal, because it would play exactly like Lego Batman except everyone would look like Ninja Turtles characters. Lego Batman is pretty nifty. |

I'm OCD with the collecting. I consider myself unworthy if I don't have 100%. Same goes for every game I play, I need 100%!! |

The part I like about them is the sheer amount of characters you can unlock. Even if they're model swaps or absolutely useless, just the idea that you can get these obscure characters for play is a great thought.
But other than that, not much else of note. They're decent co-ops, especially with younger folks or people who don't play games often enough to know what they're doing, but that's pretty much it.
