Question about DVDs

Why are they coming out with DVDs of the show that IS STILL ON THE AIR?! I could see it in places where they don't get the new show but it doesn't make sense to me. It's easy enough to just get a blank tape and tape the show. To me, it makes more sense to put the original show on DVD since it isn't still airing. I love the new show and all, it's just that I can see it whenever I want (recording the episodes) but I'd much rather have the original show on DVD (I've only got a few of those episodes recorded)

I can see your point, dude. But when you think about it, the old show had the VHS tapes released while it was still on the air, and some kids decided to rather tape them than spend over $10 on the videos.

DVD is MUCH higher quality than TV, and the diffrence is even bigger with VHS. That and people want the without commercials and logos.

I have every episode of the new series taped, but I am still going to get new releases on DVD. I have heard that in early-mid 2004, the original TMNT show may be released on DVD, that is was www.tvshowsondvd.com said... Could be wrong. I also heard that the eps will be edited on the first DVD coming out this year. That would be terrible.

The DVD will be "epic begins" 72 minute movie edited from the first season. It toally lacks the 3rd episode, and others are edited.

Artisan is just a bunch of fools, they fail to see how much profit they would make on a classic TMNT DVD. It is a fact that it is the most highly demanded cartoon dvd at the moment and they just push back the release date and give us the crappy Epic Begins. I wonder how much crack they smoked before coming to this conclusion.

Is it the most hihgly demanded show to get on DVD? Shows like TF have muhg bigger fan base than TMNT... I guess Artisan thinks it's a risk, and wants to test the ice with "Epic Begins". That, or they plan to release the same DVD's that are already available in Scandinavia.

Still Artisan makes me wonder. Right now everything named TMNT is selling more than clean water in Africa, Including succesfull TV-Show, Toys, Sold out comic book, everything. They could easily ride with the name of New TMNT franchice, many comapnies have done the same before. But not Artisan it seems.

It's weird that a compnay wich put outs high quality DVD's like T2: Extreme Edition, is not even trying with the TMNT.

I forget where I saw the info on it being the most demanded cartoon DVD but it is very high on the list if not at the top.

DVD & VHS are made so that way people can watch their program anytime. So I'm atleast feeling good to get the DVD soon.

I got into the habbit back in 1992 or 93' when I was little. I would like to thank my 2 year older cousin for getting me in the habbit. 2001 was when I revised my knowledge on TMNT. And today I'm a bigger fan than I was years ago. I have all 3 TMNT Movies, current Toon, and old school Toon on DVD.

I know I'm buying them! Quality copies of each episode without the Fox Box crud. I'm game for sure.

Not totally; it does have the first few seconds of it where we see Splinter sleeping in the lair and how Raph wishes he could use the mutagen to turn Shredder into a mutant hamster, or did you forget to see that brief segment in it?

Well, bringing it back to the new show, I was in a Suncoast, and my girlfriend bought me the Shell Cycle for a present, and the clerk was really into TMNT, and he said the new show was being released soon on DVD after the first season, with each new season having a DVD release right afterward.
