Mutated Miwa/Karai

I know there's a thread on the whole Miya/Karai thing; I think by now we are all convinced that they are one and the same.

My question is, what are they going to do with this? How will they reveal it to Splinter, and how will everyone react? Will they have Miwa move into the lair with her real father? (Not that it won't be crowded enough with April, Timothy/MM, and now Slash too)

I was debating with my wife about it, and we were thinking: would it be better if Miwa mutates, right around the time she discovers the truth? Add a significant physical change to go along with the psychological and emotional one? In a sense, it might make it easier for her to merge into a life of having a giant rat for a father.

So, if she IS mutated, what animal should it be? We were thinking a small mammal, to match Splinter somewhat. Rodent, or a cat or something, maybe.

My prediction: after finding out that Shredder lied to her and that Splinter is her real father, Karai is angry at both of them and becomes a stand alone villain.

Anyways, let's just for now, say that she won't be mutated and stick with the fact that Karai and Miwa are the same person.

Actually, that wouldn't be a bad idea. I get the feeling that Karai has been going easy on her opponents so far - not wanted to hurt April, just get answers, and being more about taunting Leo than killing him.

If she was a stand-alone villain, she'd probably get really vicious, and be a strong threat to the turtles on her own.

For feeling like he didn't try to find her after the house burned down even though he thought she was dead like Tang-Shen or how she feels like he replaced her with the Turtles.

Mutating her would be an awesome and ballsy thing to do. It would be a complete and dramatic change to the character never been done before. If anyone could pull it off, Nick could.

I highly doubt she will become a full fledged ally of the turtles. There would just be way too many "good guys". I have a feeling she will become a standalone villain like mentioned above, maybe taking over the purple dragons.

Although I have gotten the feeling that she will be mutated eventually. Maybe after learning that splinter is her father, she will be thrown into a situation where splinter/ the turtles are fighting the kraang and she is exposed to mutagen in the process. A transformation like that could possibly make her resent splinter/turtles and make her go back to what she knows, the Shredder.

Karai as a mutant turtle wouldn't just start to live with them and become Turtle number 5. She'd be horrified at what she's become and run off, appearing every now and then, possibly helping either side. Or possibly plotting against both. That kind of Venus would work, especially having such strong ties towards Splinter and Shredder, and not just 'hey look at me, I'm a female Turtle'.

The Rat King is still basically Dr. Falco, just more insane. Mutagen Man will most likely retain his characteristics as Pulverizer, and Bradford and Xever continued being who they were before they were mutated. Venus would have more character since she's continuing her personality as Karai.

I know, that's why I pointed it out. We've already seen Nick doing something similar with Slash, so it wouldn't be that odd of they did the same thing here. They even can say that she turned into that because he touched one the turtles in some way. I really hope they don't do it though.

How seeing how Slash looks a little deformed with those spikes, I doubt Karai would be able to keep her good looks as a mutant if she touch one of the turtles.

I know it is a relatively bad idea; I was just wondering what people think should if Nick were to mutate her.

For one, she'd be the first female mutant for this series. We haven't seen this done yet in the Nick show.

I doubt she'd become a character from a previous series, like how some have suggested Venus, or Mona Lisa (I was more thinking of a mammal mutation, such as Alopex or Ninjara. But I know next to nothing of those characters, not being a comic reader).

I really think they couldn't make her an old character revived - that would effectively give her three names. Since to us, the audience, "Miwa" is, effectively, Splinter's infant daughter. "Karai" is Shredder's (adopted?) teenage daughter. From this, Nickelodeon could easily make "Miwa" the name of the "mutated Karai", in the same way that all the other mutants gained new names upon their mutations.

Also, mutation aside, I can see how Karai may never actually side with Splinter and the turtles, even after learning the truth. Becoming a stand-alone villain with anger toward both sides makes sense. Suddenly realizing her life has all been a lie all this time may be too much to make some solid commitment to either side.

That being set, such a life-altering event - like mutating - may be what the writers need in order to have her cling to her "new" family with Splinter and the Turtles, if that's the direction they want to go.

could also say that she feels resentment because now the Turtles are his sons..and in a way see's them as her replacement

maybe if mutated she feels that is the only way she gets her fathers full attention back

Hmmm . . . interesting point to go with a grand physical change to mirror an . . . epiphany? of sorts.

I kind of like Karai as a human, and while a female mutant sounds mighty interesting, I kind of like the idea of Karai as this shady character that uses some deception and can run things without much of an enhancement. I'd rather another female character come in, and besides, I don't think I fancy the idea of being a little mutation-crazy. There's little "specialness" if you will to mutation if everyone does it.

You know I wouldn't mind seeing her mutate as the cliff hanger to season 2. Leave it where you aren't sure she dies or gets mutated. Have Splinter find out right before it happens that she is his daughter. It would be great to leave on such a note and then season 3 could be the Turtles trying to get her to accept the fact she is a mutant.
