Is anyone else amazed at the way the water looks?

Why does the water look so realistic in this show? It looks like its from a completely different show compared to the way the rest of the series looks. I really love the look of it in the finale when the pods dropped in the water, and in the earlier episode at the docks.

And yes, I realize I made an entire topic just to discuss water. But it looks really impressive.

I know I was watching the finale and was totally distracted by how awesome the water looked....

Yeah it's very nice as are some other things like the closeup of Ficeface.
The budget must seriously be bigger from all the merch deals and toys selling so well.

I actually think the budget was extended for the finale, that way they could create all those human pedestrians running around in the finale. New York finally isn't empty anymore.

Ok, glad I'm not the only one that loved that scene, with the wave and the pod with them, it looked incredible

I am saying this for a felt eternity now that the water in this show really looks outstanding!....
for the scenes in this finale though I strongly believe that it was achieved much cheaper and therefore also smarter than most people would think..I believe they really incorporated a photographic shot of real water in their animation...someone should be asking ciro or someone else on the show...
if they did it this way then this would at the same time be a really sweet nod to the 4kids show in which they used the same technique with similar incredible result..in the first ultimate ninja episode the water of the east river was a photographic shot, too...

When the pod fell into the water in the finale, I literally thought they filmed a live action scene there It was that good.

I have to agree that the water looked amazing and very realistic when the pod fell in the water and when the Technodrome fell in, too. Just so awesome.

The CG water was impressive, but the Technodrome plunging into the water was too soft. I thought the displacement wave created by its impact was going to create a prominent wave (7 feet high) since the Technodrome was so huge, but eh...

Cool that people react to the graphics.
But I don't think water is the most complicated thing to animate in 3D.
It is not like they spent lots of money on the water graphics.
Probably not too complicated to make compared to everything else they've done.
The only thing that seems more complicated is the rendering.

Rendering the water so much made it seem out of place to the other characters in the same shot.

I'm not saying it is bad either, I just find it funny how much the water effect got attention while the character animation (which is much more time consuming) isn't mentioned? Maybe I just missed the talk about it though.

Yeah the thing is the water looks too realistic for this show, its not stylized like the rest of the animation. Reminds me of water from a PS3/360 videogame.

I'm sure we'll get used to it eventually. When we first saw Leatherhead's design, I thought he looked way too realistic compared to the turtles, (because of the textures on him) but now I don't even notice it.

Especially since people would complain, loudly and bitterly, if any of the foreground animation wasn't awesome.

I agree that the water looks pretty sweet, though; maybe too good for the rest of the art. I noticed that the backgrounds look a lot like actual places, but the characters still look like animation. Then again, how can you make giant anthropomorphic turtles look real when there's no such thing as a giant anthropomorphic turtle? Deep thoughts, man.

It really adds to the immersion of how special that moment was.

It's like something out of a final fantasy cgi cutscene/movie.

I think a lot of time and money has been spent on devising the physics of water in 3d graphics, especially for gaming. These days it should look good. I'm personally not too fussed, as long as the story is good.

Honestly the water looked bad until the finale. In the scene where the pod falls into the water it does look live.

i didnt even notice, all i know is, that when they originally made Finding Nemo, the water looked "too real" and they were forved to redo it to look more animated :/

I thought in enemy of mine enemy the water looked nice, in fact the reason why I record that episode was to gaze at the water

Yeah, and 'It Came From The Depths' had some good water effects.
