Renaissance Artist Names for other mutants

Splinter named the turtles after renaissance artists right?

Leonardo (Leo)
Michaelangelo (Mikey)
Donatello (Don/Donnie)
&
Raphael (Raph)

But if these names were used... what mutated animal would you name them according to....

Artists:
Giotto
Brunelleschi
Lorenzo Ghiberti
Paolo Uccello
Masaccio
Fra Filippo Lippi
Filippino Lippi
Fra Angelico
Piero Della Francesca
Andrea Mantegna
Andrea del Verrocchio
Sandro Botticelli
Luca Signorelli
Domenico Ghirlandaio
Pietro Perugino

High Renaissance:
Giovanni Bellini
Giorgione
Titian
Veronese
Correggio
Tintoretto
...?

Do you think the Turtles can have mutated turtle cousins around the globe with these names?

I guess it's possible. There was a mutant in the 80's cartoon named Mona Lisa, which was a Renassaince painting.

Man Ray is also the name of an American modernist artist.

That's pretty cool. That, and that it's a character named after a modern artist. I think man ray is my favorite archie character. Can you give me a link to the artist, and possibly his work.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_Ray I suppose you mean this guy? Well, the article says nothing about any influence on TMNT adventures, so i guess if you had just directed me to that link it would atleast be implied, and i wouldn't need to spend endless hours on the internet trying to figure it out by myself. Yes, your word is good enough. Sorry if i'm being an internet aliterate.

There was also another character named Ray from the classic show in "Rebel Without a Fin".

He's a man-fish hybrid. I don't know, the show didn't show him being mutated.

I wouldn't. The turtle's having these types of names is an attribute I like to keep specifically to them and them alone. That's one major thorn in my side from Venus and Mona.

While the characters were poorly executed, I enjoyed the fact the female mutants names were both works of art, rather than names of artists.

Well, why the shell not? Bottecelli painted a Venus, after all, so it fits. And the Mona Lisa (all "SIX" of them, according to some sources) was painted by Da Vinci. The Venus de Milo is ancient Greek (and anonymous, AFAIK), however, so that one's a little bit of a stretch.

I always admired Carravagio, his work even contained hidden symbols so that would be an awesome name for a mutant in hiding!

If female mutants were ever re-introduced though I'd love to see them named after some prominent women artists rather than the subject matter of the old masters.

I'd love more modern artists, too:

Jackson - some kind of leaking oh, maybe an urchin or starfish mutant?
Frida - walrus mutant.
Salvador - easy. Elephant
Vincent - chair mutant
Andy - tomato soup mutant
