Sofistocat's collection
This will be my thread for TMNT OA/ production art/ prints and TMNT artist's other work. My main focus is to have a minimum of one page from as many volume one issues as possible. Understandably, I accept I may never reach 100% completion for various reasons and I have not go to the point of spending $1000's on a single page and probably never will. That said, I am at 45% completion as of this update. Not too bad... Enjoy and thanks for looking!

Round 3:
CITY AT WAR City at War is and has always been one of my favorite story arcs. It portrays the public and private sides of each character, many of which are coalesced into one flowing narrative. CAW OA is one of my main collecting focus'. Though Eastman and Laird wrote and did pre-lim art, they only did the art for issue 50. The OA pages for the remaining issues pit artists Lawson(penciler) and Aiken(inker) together, with Talbot on tones and Kelleher on lettering. Matt Banning(issue 53 inks) and Jason Temujin Minor(issue 58 and 61 inks) also assisted for a breif period. I very much dig the transitional look from the turtles of ole(Classic E&L) into what was to become their look for the remaining comics Mirage was to produce. The respective goal for my CAW collection is to tell an abridged story of the events within the thirteen issues published. Though I may not have many pages with huge action sequences, the pages I do have are beginning to encompass just what the hell was going on with everybody's personal lives and how they were all tied together. I am always on the lookout to purchase CAW pages. Enjoy TMNT #50 page 9 OA / OA with lettering acetate overlaid. I start my CAW collection with Nathaniel Buscheyev, keep going... ![]() TMNT #51 Jim Lawson's/ Keith Aiken's first CAW page. Woot! ![]() TMNT #52 pg 15 Karai's first appearance(top) / 20,21(bottom) Lawson's/ Aiken's first CAW DPS ![]() TMNT #53 page 23 ![]() TMNT #54 pg 8 (top)/ 16(middle) Might as well put a name with the face... /20 (bottom) ![]() TMNT #55 TMNT #56 pg 15 BELOW [img][/img] TMNT #58 pg 18 BELOW ![]() TMNT #59 pg 12 ABOVE TMNT #60 TMNT #61 page 19 ![]() TMNT #62 page 4 (top)/ page 14(middle)/ page 20 (bottom) I end my City At War collection with Nathaniel Buscheyev [img][/img]

Round 7: Sketches and Commissions
Jim Lawson penciled his take on Peter Laird's cover for the original TPB(the B&W wraparound cover) on a big sheet of DuoShade paper(measures 22" x 15"). Eric Talbot inked and toned it with much love. He kept giving me little updates stating how much he was enjoying it. The original pencils were a thought to have a commemorative piece for my daughter's birth(this one's for me...). Eric was kind enough to ink in a Easter egg for my daughter... I also put the pencils onto a 11" x 17" piece of smooth bristol and Steve Lavigne inked and colored that. I very much appreciate the contrast!!!! Thanks guys!!! The middle pic is of both of them holding a partially finished page. The outer pics are of each of them holding the finished product. ![]() Jim Lawson 30th Anniversary commission/pre-lim ![]() Jim Lawson / Gerhard role reversal sketch ![]() Lawson / Bissette Bing Con 2015 Jam Sketch 11" x 17"(Lawson Zog Triceraton / Bissette Leatherhead). This is now going to be a yearly ritual. How do we top this one??? ![]() Dan Berger Splinter Sketch ![]() Dan Berger 1991 con sketch ![]() I ordered some books from Mirage recently and Dan was kind enough to sketch Leo in the back of a TMNT vol. 4 #30. I love this and it's my first piece directly from him. I appreciate getting art first hand much more than second hand. ![]() Steve Lavigne Flaming Carrot/ Krang/ Foot Soldier ![]() Eric Talbot Sketches

Round 8: Sketches and Commissions II
I had a few Stan Sakai OA pieces and really love how big his heart is. He's constantly vouching for benefit and fundraising groups. I love the "Art of Usagi Yojimbo" book the DHP published a few years back. With some finesse and some gab, he was kind enough to start a jam page on one of the blank interior pages of that book. I love his "updated" self portrait with the beard. He also drew Myamoto, Tomoe and Spot. I can know bring this great book to any con he's at and have a reason to happily wait in his line... Also, another quickie sketch in the Sakai Project book. I'm pretty psyched they published one of my auction donations. I'm starting to bring this awesome book to cons and collect signatures from all the published collaborators. Every single person has had the greatest things to say about Stan and Sharon(RIP). Bless them both! ![]() Mark Bode sketch from SAC-CON 2014 Thanks Chris! ![]() Rick Arthur sketch and pre-lims ![]() Khary Randolph Triceraton sketch ![]() Steve Bissette Snapper sketch ![]() Steve Bissette / Jim Lawson Bing Con 2014 Jam sketch 11" x 17" It's a mommy and daughter dino sketch that commemorates my daughter's birth. She was three days old when this as done. Both Jim and Steve are some of the nicest people in the biz. Bing Con is a great little show in Springfield MA. It's very much worth making the drive from NJ... nuff said ![]() Gerhard sketch for the WW Philly 2016 show. The caption was fitting since it was my birthday and I went out drinking after the show.

that's usually happens at times. whenever most of us get a mystery item, we always put in our heads (consciously or subconsciously) our favorite possible outcomes. when that item is anything but what our predetermined desired outcome was, we get disappointed. we set ourselves up for failure, lol. let me assure you that what you got is a quality piece for sure! But I'm sure there are a few others out there that would trade covers with you. Someone is always trying to trade up for their favorite character and Raph is easily the most popular turtle.
