What's with Raphael's belt?

Just bought Raphael (so I now only have him and Leonardo), and have noticed (well at least on mine) that you can't really put his Sais in it. There are holes in it just under his arms, but the Sais don't fit in very well, and if I do manage to get them in somewhat, then his arms will end up pushing his belt down and so you end up seeing underneath his belt, where you're not supposed to (he's got a hole there, and gap for the belt to go).

So I'm not doing it right, or got some sort of reject or Playmates stuffed up the figure.

It's a badly designed belt, but if you put the sais in at an angle (sloping down, pointing behind him) it fits a little better.

I think it's actually a compromise due to safety issues. The belt is pretty much exactly as it should be. But the sais have been altered to confirm to safety standards. If they were molded with the thin prongs they should have instead of a blade they would fit much better. Of course, then they couldn't be sold to kids.

I actually just bought the Raph figure today, along with Mike, Don, Splinter and a Foot Soldier and I quickly noticed how much a pain it was to fit his sais in the holders. Mike's nunchaku holders seem to be abit of a problem as well.

This helps a little, spin the upper arms 180 degrees, and there is a little more room for the sais

IMO, it's the only flaw in any of the Turtle figures... Otherwise, Playmates has produced probably the four best Turtles figures yet, period.

And I don't have any problems with Mike's belt. The nunchaku fit perfectly. Maybe yours has a defect of some kind?

I too have had no trouble with Mikey's belt,in fact (other than Leo's Ninja-to sheath's) i think its the best belt out of the four.

If you adjust Raph's arms slightly so they aren't tight against the sides of his body, the sai fit fairly easily into his belt from an angle. A bit of an annoyance, but thankfully the other Turtles' belts are just great.
