Positive Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation talkback thread

Keep it positive. I know a lot of you hate it, and that's fine to each your own, but I never really get to talk about the next mutation, and there is a positive talk back thread about the new movie coming out so there should be one about this too. Not everyone hates it. So I stress be nice, this isn't for TNM bashing. Positive comments and talkback only.

The same thing goes for you and the nick series. Now I'll cut to the chase, Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation is a horrible iteration of TMNT. But on a comedy level, it's hilarious. The cheap costumes, the lazy dubbing, the villains, it's all done so poorly that you can't help but laugh and be entertained by it. The only thing i legitimately like about Next Mutation are :

- Scott McNeil as Bonesteel

- Once and a while, it does have genuinely funny jokes.

The concept of the show was quite good, as was the costume designs.

The humor does get pretty good every once in a while, the costumes are nice, and they got a crossover with the freaking Power Rangers.

I thought the Turtles costumes were pretty good given the budget of a TV show.

There was never really anything like it at the time. It was a first real transition into change, via the turtle look. It was a new concept but got everyone prepared for more turtle variants to come. And in all reality the turtles would destroy the power rangers, they just had to lose because it was a power rangers episode

Ooh, is this going to turn into a TMNT vs. Powder Rangers debate? (No, that wasn't a typo, that was INTENTIONAL!) I never really liked them. (Cheap Voltron rip-off....)

On the topic of NM, I actually liked Silverback, and Mikey's pirate radio show was a cool idea. Also, it's the FIRST and ONLY time you actually get to see the location of the subway lair! (I forget which episode it was, but Donnie had rigged some sort of tracking system that monitored their body heat- and tied it into a GPS. He shows Venus where they all are on his monitor, on a street map of the city- and it shows the street their lair is under!) It's under W 25th St. between 6th and 7th Avenues, for those who are wondering.... (I had to pause the episode on the close up of the monitor to really see it, but there you have it!)

I never watched TNM when it aired and bought the dvd's recently out of curiosity. I knew of it's existence and expected it to be a Power Rangers type of show. It's exactly what it was meant to be... an action show for little ones! I've watched a few of them with my 5 year old step-son and he can't get enough of it!! Is it cheesy...ABSOLUTELY. Is it painful to watch (as a grown up).... at times, yes! BUT.... I am truly glad that I bought it, I enjoy watching it and seeing my son's reaction to it makes it worth the $$ that I paid for it.

We haven't finished watching them yet, but soon we will sit down together and have another little marathon. My kids were unfamiliar with any TMNT toon before the new NICK show but they now LOVE the turtles! The 5 year old has seen a few TNM and I've shown him some of the OT on youtube and he loved it!! The 18 month old is already showing an interest in it as well.

I liked that Donnie didn't believe in magic, it really fit his character.

Well I liked it.

Really interested in who they would have added in a second season. It sucks it ended on a clip show, but the evolution of Venus was good to focus on. I think Simon and silver were played perfectly. I would have liked if Venus somehow taught them the shinobi magic.

Homeless Shredder was a really good concept for a "no kill" TMNT incarnation. The idea of if they could forgive Shredder for everything and move on and even help him out is something that could have been interesting if used well.
