Biggest Aspect of Re-Invention of the 2014 Turtles?

To me seems to be their size, and strength? Seems like they're being transformed from cute, shorter than April martial artists. To brute, hulking well over 6' turtles as described by viewers of the trailer. This bothers me the most. Especially the rumors of their proposed strength.

The studios are banking that the often coveted Boy/Male market will flock to see male-gaze centric wish fulfillment on the screen.

Well that's all Megan Fox is good for after all. If this movie was supposed to be about positive female role models maybe they should have chosen a female actress known for her talent rather than her boobs.

i think if done right it could work im mean really in 2007 they were larger sleeker but stil larger then most version, and as for strength i always assumed when i was younger that they were stronger if i remember correctly i remember them lifting a car. but how large is large i mean im 6'2 and i have a friend that 6'7 and if pretty fit, while big thats not humongous, know if that were 7'8" then yeah that be pretty tall but i doubt they are that big. i think if no right in the right setting it could very well work

Michael Bay has never been interested in anything other than catering to the male gaze.

That's not catering to the female gaze, that's adding another self-insert for dudes to want to be.

You want catering to the female gaze you've got to look towards the Thor and Captain America movies. Long, lingering, full body shots of men as objects of desire. That's what I'm talking about.

Megan Fox is a question mark. This version of Shredder is a question mark (He's sounding like Green Goblin). But this is the change I find most interesting and exciting. The things The Blue Door did with combat were glorious.

I like the idea of the turtles having some weight to them...I know they are supposed to be teenagers and all, but something about their build in the new Nick 'toon doesn't seem right to me. Its probably because my favorite iteration has been the 2k3 series; I like they presence they commanded with their size.

And also the fact the Turtles have a hard shell on there back, I could see one of them getting hit and smashing through a wall causing a bit of structural damage.

Agreed, combat should be great.

If you want to make them slightly bigger, fine.

But being over 6 feet tall and giving them the strength to flip a moving car over is horseshit.

They look pretty short to me. Shorter than April.

I mean, maybe they were slightly taller than usual, but they were still well under average "human" height, and generally always have been.

I can picture the scene after the Turtle crashes on the Humvee. He be like. "Oh Hi April, I could use a little help here?"

Face it. The people who love and look forward to this movie...at this point Nothing and I mean Nothing is going to change your mind. And the vice versa is true too. When I can plainly see a train wreck heading towards my way, I can either stand there and let the big son of a bitch hit me, or I can get out of the way.

At this point, I'm getting out of the way. The only reason I even posted to this is that my username came up in your conversation.

From now on, please speak only for you and yourself alone. Not me or anybody else, alright pal?

People who say "wait for the Trailer"...they Specifically Described the trailer beat for beat. So feel free to watch the trailer, since all you're going to see is snow, subway, Megan Fox, Will Arnett, and fugly looking turtles. Good luck and have a blast!

I'll repeat for the reading impaired. At this point, the people who love it and have hope? Nothing is going to dissuade you at all. And people who had a feeling this would be crap just keep having it confirmed to them over and over again.

So from now on, do not use my username in your pithy comments or comparisons.

I'm shocked to see so many people have such low standards in their entertainment.

"eh as long as it can hold my gaze for 2 hours its awesome" or "at least teh fighting will be awesome."

Man. That's sad. I've never expected a Turtle movie to be oscar-worthy high art, but it needs to be good and not in the "so bad it's good" way.

Pity. Maybe one day we'll get some actually talented folks who'll give us a great couple of Ninja Turtle movies in a row.

My only hope is that the 1990 movie will get a decent re-release in the run-up to August. Clean up the picture a bit, give us a few bonus features. That'd be nice.

I just keep trying to look for that silver lining.
