Movie April O'Neil Variant
I know that action figure variants are a big deal for some people. They can be fun to collect. There are two versions of the 2014 movie April O'Neil. I haven't seen this reported elsewhere. One has the normal flesh colored neck, and the other one has a yellow neck. So I'm guessing some were not fully painted. I have the yellow neck April.
Flesh colored neck: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Ninja-Tu...item43cb34fe5e Yellow neck: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-ninja-t...item2ed328fe9a Thoughts? I think it is a mistake. For those who have the yellow neck version, just pretend she is wearing a sleeveless, turtleneck leotard under her shirt. |

Yellow-neck April also features larger breasts by the looks of it.
I just received my April today and I have the flesh-toned neck. Most of them probably are, the yellow is definitely a missing paint application, but I agree there are some who will seek that sort of thing out. |

I hope to find the flesh-toned neck April. Maybe on July 6th when they officially release. If there was going to be an error, I wish it was yellow pants instead. |

Wow, the whole freakin' figure looks resculpted. Weird. I can see why they'd opt to lessen the bust, and change the face/hair, but it sucks that her clothes are now less detailed too.

Huh, that is strange. So my April does have a different and non-approved sculpt then or something? They do look different, but unless I had them both here I wouldn't be able to verify that.

I'd say so. The second one linked, her clothing has lots of sculpted folds & details, like in real life. The first one looks super basic, almost as if it were an amateur job done at home with clay. & the head sculpt I need not explain, the two couldn't be more different.

Pretty sure it's the same sculpt, just the different lighting brings out the details

lol, yeah one looks a little more sexier. I'm going to go with Powder on this one and say that the sculpt is different. The head looks different to me. I used to be really good at spotting differences, so I'm told.
Any way the yellow neck could be explained other than an oversight on painting? |

Why does the one with the paint error have to look better -__-

On my action figure, I just repainted the neck area. On the down side, the head is broken off and I will have to glue it back on. This action figure can't move the head side to side because of the hair sculpt.

It's the same sculpt.
The only way a yellow neck error could exist is if the torso were cast in yellow plastic and a paint application was missed, or the torso were cast in flesh plastic and a paint mask wasn't applied. I'm not sure what color plastic the figure was cast in. As far as legitimate errors you might find: Hair glued properly, eye and eyebrow tampos applied properly. Good-looking figure with good likeness. ![]() Versus... Hair glued too high, eye tampos misplaced, eyebrow tampos misplaced. Terrible likeness, figure doesn't look nearly as good as it should. ![]() This is why you'll hear time and time again about a great sculpt being murdered by its paint job. |

The missing neck paint's obviously a paint error. We've all seen how crappy Playmates' QC is, is a ****-up like this really that surprising? |

Actually the head sculpts do look different as does the hair.
It could be that one used a thicker paint though with the hair. But the one Aprils head looks fatter than the other. |

I have always wondered what Hasbro could do with the TMNT toyline. Might not be much better though, and Playmates has had the rights to make the toys since the beginning (although I think the first turtle figures were unarticulated and made of lead by some other company). |

Could be that the head was removed from the mould too soon and warped - it was something that plagued Hasbro's lines a half-decade ago.

The lighting in the photos is totally different, you can even see it based on the softness of the card in the "standard-neck" April. Here's a photo of mine with similar lighting to the "variant" April, same sculpt, bewbs and all.

The bigger boobs is to move your eyes away from the fact that the fig has 5 points of articulation. I especially love inbred April with the wide spaced eyes. I'm going to use her to scare the sh!# out of the bad guys.
Btw, you were kidding about the reverse knee joint Casey right? |
