Gold Shredder?

I have a question. The other day I saw a Shredder with gold spike things on his shoulders. I hadn't bought him yet, I was waiting for the one where you can take off his mask. But I saw another one today that has grey spikes on his shoulders, which I think is the regular one.
The gold one also had the new packaging with the stickers/ trading card inside or whatever. Did they just make a running change or is this a variant?
Does anyone know?
I am going by the store where is saw him and if they still have him I will get him.

If I'm not mistaking, the "gold" version is the one with the removable mask

Yep. The gold one is the one with the removeable mask. Where'd you see him? I didn't think he was out yet.

I don't think it was gold. I think the light reflecting off of it made it look gold, but I'm pretty sure it's just vac metalized silver.

ya, I think it was just the light. because in other pics it's silver.

I saw him at Target last week. I went back tonight and they had sold him

I would have bet money that it was Gold. Maybe it was just a paint error or some problem with the metaillic glaze or something because it didn't say anything about him having the removable mask. I sooo hope I was wrong...

I think it was ust probably wrong paint applied, because this figure isn't suppose to come out for awhile.
