Season 1 DVD runtime

Amazon US has THIS. Runtime: 625 minutes.

Amazon UK has THIS. Runtime: Run Time: 573 minutes.

What does the US version have that the UK version doesn't?

Hm, interesting find there.

It might have something to do with the deleted scenes each episode in the EU broadcast (such as weapons used to attack humanoid Kraangbots for example) had. But I don't think that would sum up to more than 15-20 min.

Well at least we are finally getting a season 1 box set though I really would love a Blu-ray release.

NTSC -> PAL conversion? PAL version should be about 4% shorter.

Don't feel like doing the math now.

NTSC 24fps => PAL 25fps conversion will only shrink the length from 625 to 600 min. There are definitely lesser content in the UK (Region-2) DVD.

I have both the US (Region-1) and Australia (Region-4) DVD on my hand now. The Australia DVD listed approximate run time is 575 min, which could very well indicate that it has the exact same content as the UK DVD. And yes, there are reduced content as you can see in the screen caps of the DVD menus below (US DVD at top row, Australian DVD at bottom row):

In other words, everything was removed except the first Mutation of a Scene clip and the 6-part animated comic book.

The episodes released on DVD here in the UK are UNEDITED.

I actually think the US running time is incorrect.

Assume each episode is 22 minutes, then:

26 (episodes) x 22 (minutes) = 572 minutes.

So the UK versions is actually more accurate! Does the US one have some bonus features, as these are often (sneakily) bundled into the "total running time"...

What would be edited for the US release?

So if I want every episode unedited (didn't even know they edited them at all) AND all the bonus features, I need to buy the set twice??

The US release is your best bet. Nothing is edited and all the bonus features are included.

I don't think there are any episode edits in the Australia/UK releases too, but I need to sit through and rewatch every episode to confirm that. The only things that are omitted are the bonus features I listed in my post above.

The season 1 individual DVDs have been officially released in my country (Malaysia) as Region-3 DVDs. Out of curiosity of their quality, I decided to "triple-dip" and bought them all (along with TMNT and Turtles Forever) for only RM19.90 each (that's around $6 USD) except Enter Shredder which was even cheaper at RM14.90:

The included contents are similar to US release for Rise of the Turtles and Ultimate Showdown, but strangely, the Enter Shredder disc is similar to the Australian release instead. The Mutation of a Scene clip for New Girl In Town is missing, and the special features menu background image is Donatello, not Shredder.

Just thought I'd share these info for anyone interested in the Region-3 release.

Any more details regarding whether or not the AU/UK DVDs are edited?

Has anyone actually picked up the Season 1 set yet? I'm thinking of picking this up but I can't until the weekend. I like the idea of having a complete season set instead of the volume versions of the episodes. I'd love to see some pics of the serif anyone has it.

Haha, to all the self-entitled fans who felt the "volume sets" of this show were simply "unacceptable".....sorry. I just got back from seeing this set at Walmart. All it is are those same darn three "unacceptable" volume sets repackaged together in a fancy new box. So the entitled fans who demand more.....I guess you will have to wait even longer.

I went to pick it up and saw that it was just the individual dvds packaged together. If anyone gets this you should totally go amazon, it is way cheaper than in stores. I am going to wait, hopefully they to a bluray release...

How is it in any way a display of self entitlement to dislike volume releases of a television show and want a complete season set? Wanting a properly packaged and released season set of a television show we are fans of is a pretty reasonable product to want to have available isn't it? Same thing for people who would like to see a bluray release of the show seeing as how this is a show that definitely benefits from high definition and deserves an HD release.

Because fans did not learn their lesson concerning the 2003 TMNT series and Nick may decide to reteach them the same lesson all over again, then I will have to sit and watch the predictable scramble of fans suddenly rushing to buy these DVD sets (that were once not worthy of joining their collections) when they accept that a Blu-ray release may never come. Fans of the 2003 series waited and waited and then soon Funimation said "screw it" and gave ALL of us the middle finger. These volume sets that Nick are releasing are a Godsend compared to what Funimation was giving us (and far better releases than what people growing up in the 1980's and 1990's had offered to them). Fans today are spoiled rotten. Simple, undeniable fact. There was a time when fans would have clawed down doors for these DVD sets that are being released now, but since the "almighty blu-ray" came out, suddenly the DVDs are simply not good enough for them anymore. I can see everything perfectly clear on my HD TV without the Blu-rays. Desiring a Blu-ray set is fine and dandy IF one eventually becomes available some day, but boycotting buying a complete series that is still being released fairly and in order just because it isn't perfect for "your highness" is expected fandom entitlement. There will come a time when Blu-ray will be considered crap whenever a newer, better format comes out in the future, then all these fans who are begging for the Blu-ray releases will be trying to sell their once precious "all-or-nothing" Blu-rays in garage sales when they predictably jump onto "the next big thing".
