"I liked it...but it's flawed."

This thread is for those who liked the 2014 movie. A lot of you guys say that you liked it, but are still able to see its flaws. Well, here's your chance. Point them out for us. I know a good number of you have been on the defensive, but I'd like to know what you didn't like about the film.

The Turtle van comes out of nowhere. I would have liked to seen Donnie find the car and turn it into the van.

Needed more Splinter.

Whoopi was pointless

Baxter Stockman was just a 1 second backround filler which is stupid.

I liked the whole movie, I think the only flaws are, Its running time, There are things they could've added with an extra amount of time, For example, After the Turtles run out of the Elevator, It cuts to them jumping onto the rooftop already. What they should've done, Is added scenes of them fighting several foot soldiers, on there way to the rooftop.

I'd love to see a screen cap of Stockman bc I have yet to see him and I've seen the movie a handful of times. What scene is he in?

Yeah because more criticism is what's missing from these boards Fans of the film have been happy to mention flaws, it's the ones that don't like it that have trouble pointing out anything positive.

- I have some design issues with the Turtles. Raph's body is too big, makes his head look small. The lips & nostrils are too defined. All except Leo, he looked perfect.
- I appreciate making Splinter look realistic (it's something Stan Winston would do) but he could use some cute-ing up. He has the black eyes of a killer...
- The film's logo is meh. I wanted them to use an update of the classic one or the Mirage one.
- April O'Neil was dull character. I don't blame Fox, I blame the dull sh*t she had to work with on the page.
- Shredder & Karai weren't really characters. Even the name Oraku Saki doesn't pop up at any point.
- Whoopi was fine (made it feel more 90's) but Thompson should've been Judith Hoag, especially since she's worked with PD before.
- April taking a photo of the The Foot, infront of The Foot. Deserved a bullet for that.
- The Turtles As Children montage could've been longer.
- WHERE'S THE NINJA FIGHTING?! Anyone can punch someone. Where's the roundhouses??? Also Mikey never actually hit anyone with his nun-chucks.
- The Foot are mercenaries, not ninja's. It makes sense in the real world but turns them into props waiting to get smacked out of the shot.
- The roof fight with Shredder was three times longer yet lacked the humour, fire & passion the originals had.
- So if they were to die on the collapsing frame, Donnie & Mikey's last words would've been about pop tarts & Lost. Thank god for Raph's apology/goodbyes that everyone calls forced.
- The tacked-on Victoria's Secret shot. Yeah cheers Bay, f*ck off. Stop being proud of what a douchebag you are.
- "Knock knock you about to get shell shocked, knock knock you about to get shell shocked..." That song is wank.
- Masamune, Knoxville & Shalhoub don't get an end title card but Abby Elliot does. Are you kidding me.

Quite honestly though, flicking through the film to find things I don't like, the things I do like stuck out more.

1.need old buildings old streets, everything looks so bright,so "nowadays" except the sewer.hope ny looks more 80s,90s style.07 movie and the original movie make a good example.
2.more roof top running instead of just seeing a glance of it.
3.april is a necessary character but the turtles are main characters.
sorry about my english.

I've seen the movie a bunch of times now, I'd have to say, at first I thought Megan Fox did a serviceable job, but my goodness she is horrifyingly bad at acting. The constantly out of breath when she talks...the looks she gives when someone is talking, it looks like absolutely NOTHING is going on in her brain.

The movie is too short, and on top of being too short, it moves WAY too fast.

Not long enough, means not enough Turtles.

More fighting against the foot would have been nice.

I hated Shredder's armour.

I do not like when Shredder starts throwing the knives at the tower, and we get what seems like a 5 minute far off view of the same animation of him throwing the knives over and over and over.

Leo looks very odd when they are running to the elevator and they turn the corner and are confronted by hundreds of foot soldiers, the animation just seems weird, he's like hunched over or something. Then he's like 2 ft shorter than Donnie in the elevator for some reason.

Sacks literally tells his plan about 4 times in 10 minutes. I love when Leo says to him "for what" and he says "My god...say that again I want to hear your voice" but then he just willy nilly gives them his plan step by step. It would have made more sense for maybe Karai or even use Stockman in that instance to not know the overall plan, and have them ask, and have him explain it to them in front of the Turtles.

They are too big. There is something nice about the turtles from the 90 movie being so small. It makes it ok to have them sit around and talk a bit. These Turtles are just SO huge it's like when the Incredible Hulk is on screen in the Avengers, just so out of place.

One last nit picky thing I guess it's either bat editing or bad writing or both, April asks about project Renaissance, shows Sacks the picture of the Turtles, and then he says "......do you REALLY want to know about project Renaissance?" it just seemed so weird for him to ask that when she's practically begging him for answers.

Overall I enjoy the movie, I love the TMNT, so it is definitely easier to like it because of that reason alone. Pretty much anytime the Turtles are on the screen it's gold. I really think if they would have kept more things in the movie and drug it out a little more it would have made for a much better movie. IMO it's the 3rd best TMNT movie behind 1990 TMNT first then 2007's TMNT.

I think the most frustrating thing about it is that they could have so easily sorted out the flaws and ended up with something great. It didn't have to have so many fails because they're all so unnecessary.

- run time - too short. No room for a proper plot arc, just a series of action sequences crammed together
- stupid unnecessary plot holes - they missed a trick. Take for example, Raph's broken shell. There was a great opportunity to show injury, recovery, brotherly support. Even if they'd shown Don taping it up - a tender moment - that would have been something.
- stupid evil plan. The plan doesn't need that much tweaking, just be believable.
- no Japan-based backstory for Splinter
- bullet proof turtles. No. Just no.
- turtles were too big. Their size was cartoonish and implausible. As I've said before, little turtles with skill is much more interesting than massive turtles with power
- the other thing that irked me was the learning martial arts from a book, but I can't complain too much about that because the original origin is pretty stupid too.

If they'd just designed them to be smaller and given another 20 minutes to the run time I'd imagine that we'd have a much better, more thoughtful, pretty awesome movie.

Between all the various marketing tie-ins and free ticket deals, I was able to buy two tickets for about $7. So I feel like I made out like a bandit in that regard.

Also, I did love stocking my fridge with all the varieties of TMNT themed Crush sodas. Too bad I never found any April Pineapple though. I even called my local Kroger in hopes of specially ordering it, but the manager tole me they were pretty much at the mercy of their Pepsi supplier for that.

I'm still not sure if I'd go as far to say that I liked it, but I didn't hate it.

Without repeating everyone, I'll just say my biggest issues were Megan Fox and Splinter. Everything about Splinter was cringingly painful.

The lack of martial arts. If only they would have had them battle the foot instead of run into the elevator.

even tho I enjoyed this movie I must say the story is extremly weak with many, many holes and mistakes throughout.

The horrible soundtrack. I was really wanting something huge for this and tho alot of people seem to like it I absolutely thought it was one of the dullest soundtraks to attach itself to any movie...just absolutely disscussted with the music in this movie

Splinters design

the human element angle they took with this movie making the turtles take a back seat to what was supposed to be only secondary characters. Plus the acting of even the best of them (I.e. william fictner) was only average at best, this was probably mostly due to the writting tho, and the lack of heart these characters held, except the turtles themselves.

It really bothers me there is a whole other movie stuck in limbo that was filmed because of the new direction they decided to go in at the last minute then what they originaly had, while it might not have been a better movie, it would have at least made a complete movie without as many holes in the story (maybe). Ive always been big on sticking to your guns and they pretty mjch sold out. Just saying....

the lack of martial arts

megan fox, even tho she honestly tried and really put everything she had into her character, it still wasnt enough. She has no bussiness trying to carry a movie and play the main role. she did better in transformers as a supporting actress then in this movie. Thats unfortunate. And while im reading over this statement its more unfortunate that anyone could be the main character in a turtles movie besides the turtles themselves.

have I mentioned the lack of martial arts? I mean it is called NINJA turtles. The fighting should have been the only reason they rated the damn movie pg13, but instead they threw a couple curse words in and sexual refrences to raise its rating and that really pisses me off. I dont know, ive just always pictured this epic ninja turtles battle in a ninja turtle movie that has yet to be shown but constantly promised. Kevin munroe promised it for tmnt wich is why he went with cgi in the first place and kevin eastman promised it for this one. Has anyone seen the matrix part 2 when he is fighting all of those smiths with the bow staff and its the old 1 vs 100s thing...i would love to see donatello in a scene like that.......could you imagine how epic that would be with a ninja turtles movie.....theres many other movies to use as an example but its the first thing that came to my mind seeing how I watched it last night....

the lack of knowledge of the property the writters truly had

there is more things as well but I feel like this is getting rather lengthy. Long story short I did enjoy this film but I wanted so much more out of a ninja turtle movie in 2014 and its sad that studios hold this property hostage like they have some kind of damn monopoly on it in order to sell toys and make these movies the way they want instead of letting the property shine and break through to a new generation the way it could giving the right team of writers and directors. And this is coming from someone who likes bay movies. But maybe its because its turtles, I dont know but I did still manage to enjoy this movie. I mean after all, I did see it seven times in the theaters alone, not to mention download once and bluray once so.....yeah.....

I really wish they could have done a turtle suit like the 90's, I'm sure with the advancements since then, the bodies could have looked real. Then do like a top and back of the head, leaving an opening for the actors face, and have the real actors in the suits w/ the face recognition and just filled in that small space where the face needs to be...

Whats funny is with all that gear the four actors had to wear to portray the CGI, they might as well have been wearing suits.

Can I say? I loved the new TMNT movie. Yes, I could do without Megan Fox, product placement and fart jokes, but I still enjoyed it a lot.
