Say what you will about the Image series storyline...

...but the art fricken rules.

I dunno, I've been reading through this series lately, and man, Frank Fosco has quickly become one of my favorite TMNT artists.

I love his black and white only style, and the way he draws the Turtles is totally great. Very good anatomy going on. Larsen's turtles are a little off whack, IMHO. Their heads are too small, and I'm not too big on their facial expressions. But Fosco seems to have it all down pat.

The inking is very awesome. I love the way it gives this strangely dark tone, but a different kind of dark than Eastman or Laird, since there is no toning going on as well.

Anyway, yeah, had to say that.

Im not very fond of that department either. I guess thas because they look nothing like they used to.

I thought the character design was biznitchin' as well. The plots were just too quick and veered too far from what Mirage would have done.

why did the stories "suck"?

i thought the 'lets mutilate everyone and their grandmother' was too much, but overall i thought the series was very good. most of the mutilations where just to give the turtles opposition they werent used to. and granted i dont think the way they did it was 100% great, but i guess ill have to say that the ends did justify the means. the whole thing with shadow was great IMO, and after the first few issues, i couldnt put it down, it had me hooked.
