What characters would have been like if they were in the Fred Wolf Cartoon
So in that Ace Duck thread I wrote a potential scene of Karai coming in to check on Shredder in the Fred Wolf cartoon, here, I'll put it in spoilers:
Spoiler:
Writing that got me thinking, what would the Fred Wolf version of other characters be like? There were plenty of characters that didn't make it in and plenty still that were created after the show ended. Given the show's treatment of many of the characters that were taken from other sources, as shabby as some of it is, you can't help but wonder how they would have treated other characters. What would the Fred Wolf versions of Renet, Savanti, Robyn, Shadow etc, have been like? Even characters who popped up later like Hun seems kind of interesting to speculate on. |

I'm surprised Renet never appeared in the show, like not even for a single episode. I don't think she would have been that much different since she was already very ditzy and airheaded. I think they probably would have ignored Lord Simultaneous and even Savanti and just had Renet take the Turtles on time traveling adventures.
If Robyn appeared she would have just been like any of those other generic human characters on the show. April probably would have introduced her to Channel 6 and Vernon would probably be flirting with her or something. |

I will say, though, that I think Renet and Savanti Romero could have been used with minimal changes. Bubbly airheaded valley girl with time travel powers would've fit right in with some of those other characters.

There almost was a Mighty Mutanimals spin-off where they were gonna turn Leatherhead, Ray Fillet, Wingnut and Screwloose good and then bring in Jagwar and Dreadmon. Mondo Gecko had already turned good, so they wouldn't have had to deal with that. I would love to see some notes on that series.

Just gonna copy & paste a post I've made in the past, & then add more to it.

As for others, hmm... Renet could've fit right into The Legend Of Koji or easily been the cause of another dinosaur themed episode. Savanti I don't think would work well, his design in general is not only a little problematic but it just plain wouldn't mesh with the OT. They'd have to reinvent him as one of those little pan-flute playing goat men from the middle ages or whatever, & that'd be a blemish on his character. Could be done, but it'd be lame. Karai could have been used in place of Shredder's mom. A female overseer from Japan coming over to berate him, check on things, adjust his strategies, etc. Just change up a few details. Fugitoid had an awesome re-design for his action figure, seeing him appear with that look would've been super cool. You coud have kept his original concept in tact, too. A scientist gets his brain transferred to his worker robot & is on the run from an intergalactic police force who wants to use his smarts for evil. He flees to earth to seek refuge, ends up with Krang & Shredder, thinking they're the good guys though they're really tryna use him for the same purposes. He makes them some device under the guise of it helping mankind but really it's just a tool to rob labs or something, which ultimately draws the turtles attention to the whole scenario. Bada bing. In the end, they send him to The Planet Of The Turtleoids where he can live peacefully & help their society grow technologically. Dogpound & Fishface could have been the pets of some kid who brings home a jar of ooze mistaking it for something edible, maybe. Boom. Now they're freaks. Freaks sick of being walked on a leash & fed flakes every day. They wanna eat fancy meals & live lavish, so they're breaking into buffets & jewelry stores. ![]() The possibilities are endless. |

I've posted my thoughts about this a few times as well and oddly enough I had never read Powders opinion on it because I just realized it's the same. The toyline had all these awesome toys that were never used in the show or at best only got one appearance and instead we got tons of generic and one shot mobsters/mad scientists or generic Krang/Shredder plots. As a kid it disappointed me that the figures didn't appear in the cartoon. It wasn't until season 5 were we started getting figure characters pretty much every episode. That was a huge missed opportunity.
To me I feel that Karai appeared as Lotus Blossom, she has a similar relationship to 2k3 Karai which I know is not like comic Karai but that's irrelevant. ![]() but out of the top of my head the two characters that should've appeared... Fugitoid: Not only is he one of Laird's favorite characters but he had a toyline very early on that I'm surprised he didn't appear. Especially since we got a few generic Robot episodes, in fact one of the generic robot episodes could've been a Fugitoid episode, I don't remember which one it was but when I was watching through the entire series a while ago I remember thinking that they should've just called that Robot fugitoid, sure slightly altered origin but the OT did that with pretty much everyone else. Armaggon: This character was created near the end of the popularity but we still had seasons and ones that had a "darker" tone, this would've been a great villain to have even if only in one episode. |

Karai was created in 1992, when the original toon was in Season 6. People tend to forget the original cartoon was airing when Mirage was still in its infancy.
I suppose Karai could have appeared around Season 7 though. |

Why not season 9? Instead of that stupid Lord Dregg plot, we could've had Karai enter the picture and it could've been done as like an awesome sorta toned down version of "City at War" storyarc!

The only direct parallels I can think of, that probably weren't due to obligation, is the Mouser episode, the Neutrino's car being taken from Turtles in Space and weirdly enough, Lord Dregg using the Utrom Transmat. I'm sure there could have been more but I don't many people on the show cared much for the comics, David Wise lies and ***** on the comics so he can take as much credit for TMNT as possible. But yes, Karai would probably have made a better villain than Dregg. |

If Agent Bishop were in it, he'd probably be a lot like he was in the 4kids cartoon, he would have made a great season 9 character, maybe working with Dregg to make the turtles look bad.
Eventually, everyone saw the truth about Dregg, after that time, Bishop as leader of the Earth Protection Force, could have fought Dregg.

As for other characters, Hun would pretty much be a human version of Bebop and Rocksteady, I'm guessing. |
