Laura Linney Joining 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2'

Laura Linney, the three-time Oscar nominated actress known for her dramatic work, is picking up a pair of nunchucks and joining the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

The Paramount movie, based on the 1980s comic that spawned toy, cartoons and movies, is in production in New York.

Megan Fox and Will Arnett are back for the sequel, which has newcomers such as Arrow star Stephen Amell and Tyler Perry, the latter another brow-raising casting.

Details for Linney’s role are being kept hidden deep in the sewers.

Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing.

Linney has stayed away from big studio franchise movies until TMNT 2 but the actress, now a new mom with a one year old under her belt, is becoming open to projects that are geared for younger audiences.

Her more recent movies have been a mix of period and dramas, ranging from Hyde Park on the Hudson to The Fifth Estate. She is currently on screen opposite Ian McKellan in Mr. Holmes and has the all-star 1920 literary drama Genius, with Colin Firth, Guy Pearce, Jude Law and Nicole Kidman, in the can.

something to deepen April's character, by bringing in a parental figure. She makes an appearance all these years after April's father death.

and only because I have a strong distaste for the writers - I'm betting this woman comes forward only to reveal that April's biological father is actually Eric Sachs - which will give William Fitchner something to do, since he isnt Shredder anymore.

It's obvious that she will be April's mother, in a flashback maybe.

I know who she is now as I looked her up on IMDB she was in Love Actually, The Truman show and Congo.

She could just as easily be Casey's Mom.
What if Casey's Mom runs 2nd Time Around?

She also could be working for Baxter Stockman or April works with her or she could be April's Auntie.

Michael Bay got terrific, respected, award-winning actors like John Turturro, John Voight, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, Kelsey Grammer and Stanley freakin' Tucci to star in his garbage Transformers movies. It's a big, quick bag of money and it gets them mainstream attention, so I can see why they'd slum it for a payday in between projects they actually care about.

You know, vaguely speaking and mostly based on stigma alone. Humor and being a talking non-human doesn't really necessarily translate into being properly geared toward kids.

The guys do one goofy, very child-friendly series and they can never live it down. lol
