Happy 31st anniversary TMNT!

Well today marks the 31st anniversary that the turtles first premiered at the Portsmouth Mini-con.

So happy anniversary to the turtle multiverse and everyone in it!

You made a small but glaring typo. It's not one of the best....it is THE best

31 years... the 25th anniversary with Turtles Forever feels like yesterday.

The TMNT franchise is actually getting up their in age. I can only imagine what the 50th anniversary will be like, similar to the Star Wars or Star Trek 50th anniversaries.

Man, do you even think TMNT will still be around in some fashion to hit its 50th anniversary?

Even if they're in a lull at that time, I don't think they'll disappear. (Maybe being the 50th would even spark something good.) It's not really that far away. Sadly for us. You figure, by that time, most generations alive will have grown up with the Turtles in some form or another, those that did not will be going out of fashion; we just gotta make sure to keep sharing it with more youngsters that come along and cultivate interest in people who want to help keep them alive.

TMNT will always be around in some fashion, but I have a bad feeling it's gonna be far from Batman or Star Wars status, unless something Super-Drastic happens to shake people's perceptions that it's just a kids' brand to sell toys.

It's become far too much of the public pop culture obsession to ever vanish, which is good, but it will never hit the heights it once did, which is eh. I say be thankful it made a mark and continues to do so. I'm not worried about the longevity of the franchise; just the enduring quality of it.

TMNT will probably go through longer gaps of dark periods though after the Nick era ends. I don't see Nick selling the franchise after they're done with it, they'll likely sit on it for a while and see what happens.

But there will for sure be a fourth cartoon series at some point

I'm two days late (though today is my parents' wedding anniversary), but I'm glad that TMNT continues to steady along. The 25th anniversary however doesn't feel like yesterday because most of that year was the end of the 4kids era. Since then we've gotten Nick, IDW, and Platinum Dunes change the face of the franchise.

Speaking of 50th anniversaries, 2016 will be Star Trek's 50th, and is already in the planning stages, so its definitely worth a look at that brand as it continues to compete with Star Wars for #1 Sci-Fi fantasy francise, even though Star Trek has lost some ground as of late. A new "Star Trek 3" movie will be released (not to be confused with The Search For Spock) and there is a new fan-made TV series called Renegades. It ultimately will be up to us fans to contribute as the original creators and good writers pass on in order to share the spirit.

Here is an interesting poll from Trekkies about the state of their universe and its destiny:

Maybe we'll get a huge TMNT con, kind of like the Gargolyes con or Star Wars con. Or, I'll just keep dreaming,

I think that the fans would need to start these cons. That's how the others started. So who wants to start a con?
