Can the Super Turtles work as villains?

The Super Turtles have always been an interesting concept. An alternate reality where the Turtles are super heroes, Casey and April have flipped genders, and Splinter is a villain working for the Shredder in this universe. They've always been protagonists like typical super heroes, but what if the role of them is in reverse?

I'm experimenting with my current fan-fiction for the Nick show to have the Super Turtles appear, but as villains. They are appear as primary villains in one of the seven story arcs I have planned out. I've explained details to a few in private about this, but I won't spoil anything for now. It is set in stone for this arc though and if you are curious, shoot me a PM.

So, given proper circumstances, could they work as villains or should they remain heroes like usual?

That'll be a story for another day. I have yet to view that incarnation but it seems intriguing to see. I'd be interested in hearing opinions on it in the future. Both Super Turtles are ignored massively on here from what I've seen.

Though I'm focusing on the super heroes more I am curious on your perspectives on the Japanese anime or SuperMutants. Perhaps someone can create a thread about them.

For the lowdown on the Japanese manga, this should be a good place to start:
