Was there any parts of the OT as well animated as the intro?
Having never seen the 1987 cartoon, i don't know how good the animation for the series were but after watching first opening on youtube and seeing how well the animation looked i was wondering, are there any episodes that matched the quality of this?

The point of the intro (like in any other show) was to hype up the viewer for the episode, hence the great animation of the intro.
As for you're question, does the intro ever represent the shows animation? Arguably it does in season 1 but for most of the series the answer is no. The animation is low budget infamously rushed, it's full animation errors that are way too easy to spot. There are videos out there to point out errors. I remember there is at least one scene that is made up nothing but still frames, presumably this happened because they had no time to acutally animate it. I'll link some videos of the mistakes here: Spoiler:

Pretty much the first season looks the best out of all of them. After that the show gets worse and worse. I think season 4 is the worst offender if I'm remembering correctly.

I mostly watch Season 1, I'm glad people saying it's the best looking so I don't feel left out much not viewing other seasons (except when Nick introduce them, like Leatherhead etc so then I go to youtube to look at the original OT episode).

Season 1 tends to be the closest in animation quality to the intro. But as Cybercubed says, there were some episodes from other seasons that were close, too. I'd say "Enter the Fly" from Season 3 is a worthy mention.

I haven't watched most of the series in years, but I agree that there were some episodes that were close such as "Turtles on Trial", "Rock Around the Block", The Big Zip Attack" and "Planet of the Turtloids".

Season 6 and 7 also have the best animation of the original style. Every episode in that season had good animation, unlike those random Season 3-4 episodes that looked crappy.

I believe the 4th episode was the most well animated one in the whole series.

Interesting mistakes, although the "Global Trade Center" I wouldn't consider a "mistake". Cartoons do that all the time. You know of Sky Tree Tower in Japan? Well, for Detective Conan, they can't call it that. Instead, it's referred to Belltree Tower. I know in later eps they used World Trade Center, but maybe at the time they weren't allowed to.
Oh the exercise room thing....they're ninjas. They would have to have a place to train...so that mistake is a stretch, IMO. Ok, gotta stop. lol part 3 and 4 I will save for later. |

Even as a kid I noticed a marked difference in quality in sequences in shows that were reused or repeated, like Lion-o's Sword of Omens shtick, or Mumm-Ra's transformation sequence. I guess that's why they formed Voltron in space, and He-Man just magically appeared in front of Castle Grayskull during his transformation sequence. They could just cut in the same footage every week, no matter where the story took place.

There might be certain pieces in episodes that are well animated. I guess it'd be the 1st season but even then it's animation is still not quite up to par with the intro but I don't expect it to be. The intros to a series are almost always much better than the episodes themselves. The intro is meant to suck you in. If episodes were as well animated as the intros, it'd take much longer to produce these cartoons after all. Not to mention it'd be more expensive.
