Why do you think Renet and Savanti Romero were never in the original cartoon?

Given they were some of the earliest characters to debut in the comics, why do you think these two were never featured in the cartoon not even for a single episode?

Savanti looks like a stereotypical demon, there might have been some concerm there. As for Renet, who knows? Association with the demon-like character?

Another reason might be that they didn't have toys. All the Mirage characters that appeared had toys as far as I know.

But they would have had toys if they were planned to appear.

I'll second the demon part. It WAS the 80's after all, and anything even remotely demonic was frowned on, even if only by association. See also: Dungeons and Dragons. It got a HUGE bad rap for having demons and devils as standard fare in the game.

Couldn't Renet have appeared alone then just to take the Turtles on time travel adventures?

Maybe, but I'm sure they wanted to stay away from the typical Valley Girl stereotype her character seems to always end up as.

But then again, they weren't. The writers didn't seem to adapt anything from the comics willingly, they just seemed to use characters like the Triceratons because of the toys, they could have easily adapted Turtles in Space as it doesn't seem that far from the typical plots the show featured but instead the Triceratons were shoehorned into a Batman parody...

Good question...

I'm going to guess that at the time, the two weren't entirely popular, especially compared to Shredder, Baxter, or even the Triceratons. Granted, they could go the route of the Rat King and redesign and alter the character.

Renet's look from Mirage might be too inappropriate for the demographic, then again you have April. Renet I could see entering if they don't make her extremely sexy.

As for Savanti, it's probably going to be religion with demons and all that mumbo jumbo. The only way I could see him in is go the Nick route and say he's a mutant, which kinda takes away the value of his demon state. Mostly, unless they weren't extremely popular at the time, they've grown in the lore ever since the 2003 series introduced them. Just the appearances and possible controversy could prevent an appearance, but a toy for both at the very least should have been made.

Its probably for the best cause Fred Wolf would have ruined those characters.

I would be interested to know if anybody at Mirage ever sent an action figure or model sheet proposal for the characters to Playmates or Fred Wolf. Rat King and Leatherhead were kind of 2nd wave characters introduced in Mirage Tales of the TMNT around the same time.

Fugitoid not appearing is a bigger question..one of the few characters that appears early in the comics, has an action figure, Laird loves him, writers seemed to love robots and space alien episodes.

Satan & the boobmaster. 'Nuff said.

That & the fact that nobody involved respected the Mirage material.

As a kid, I just figured he was a video game villain in TMNT3.

The OT would have embraced the hell out of that part and amplified it 1000 times, what are you talking about? Her and Michelangelo would have probably gotten along and have the most obnoxious conversations.

Sad but maybe accurate answer: she's a woman, this is a "boys show" to sell "boys toys".

Most of them didn't have "powers" or whatever, at least not permanently so.

Maybe the better question here is why isn't Renet in the third movie?

It has been speculated that the robot in "Big MACC attack" was intended to be the Fugitoid, but that Laird objected to way he was written. In case you don't know or remember, the robot in that episode had an inconsistant quirk that had talk like a cowboy and for some reason the episode couldn't decide if he was an alien or from the future. I can see why that could have been a problem for Laird...

I guess because the FW series really wanted to be its own thing and just wanted to use the core characters of the franchise. And even those were fairly different in character.

And the triceratons only appearing in one episode of season 7. With all the alien episodes, it sure took them long enough to put them in the show, and only in one episode to boot. Why couldn't they, I dunno, have been part of Dimension X and c-operate with Krang in some episodes and be his enemies in another ones? That could have been interesting, but oh well.

Since the series usually played on science fiction rather than magic and supernatural, it made much more sense to use science and technology with time machines instead when doing time-travel adventures.

Ha, I could totally see the Nick Fugitoid randomly talking like a cowboy because he apparently watches a lot of American television programs.
