- Chrome Dome, the forgotten special? -

I was always wanting to ask this, and just remembered today. Does anyone remember way back when, at the height I believe of the turtle's popularity, there was an like hour TV special. I think it was a Friday night. From what I recall, it was a one hour "mini movie". The plot was that Shredder and Krang created Chrome Dome, and like the Turtles couldn't do anything about it. The finally found out the one weak spot on his back, and destroyed him. Does anyone remember this? For some reason I recall it being like a huge episode and there was a lot of hype for it.

CBS prime-time! It had Kurma and the Turtleoid planet.
It was broadcast on my birthday (I think)!

BTW awesome Avatar!

I remember that too, only I saw it as a rerun. But nonetheless, it was a cool (albeit obscure episode) and it's too bad we never really got it released on video. It's not even part of most TMNT episode lists. The turtloid planet was kinda dumb and not very creative, but that mini Technodrome Shredder had was cool. Too bad he didn't use it in other episodes. Same can be said for Chrome Dome.

Groundchuck and Dirt Bag, oh **** I remember those two. They were two of my favorite bad guys, figure-wise. I was really excited when I saw them on TV. It's a shame they weren't on any other episodes (from what I can remember)

I remember that very well. It was raining outside and I was over at a friends house, we all wanted to see that "silver guy" in the cartoon.

I remember it. That was one of the few episodes my parents sat down and watched with me.

I saw the second half of it I think. I seem to remember the part where the robot goes into Kurma's space ship and then never being able to find the ep on vhs that that had come from. Finally I saw an encode of it a few months ago, it was really fun finally seeing where I had gotten that memory from.

For anyone who lives in the US, it WAS released on video. And, for all those who missed the beginning, it started with the turtles trying to keep Tattoo (the yellow sumo wrestler that a figure was created for) from breaking into some place. And, for those who think Chromedome, Groundchuck, and Dirtbag weren't used a second time, they were. Chromedome was in NIGHT OF THE ROGUES, and Groundchuck and Dirtbag were in ESCAPE FROM THE PLANET OF THE TURTLEOIDS. If there are any remaining questions, let me know.

O man, really. I never knew Tattoo was really in a Turtles episode! He was an awesome figure.

"Chromedome was in NIGHT OF THE ROGUES"
What was that about again?

"Groundchuck and Dirtbag were in ESCAPE FROM THE PLANET OF THE TURTLEOIDS"
Ahh, I remember that now, didn't it deal with gold or something?

Huh, and here I thought Tattoo was only in the Archie comic. Always wondered what the deal with that guy was. Weird.

Hey, I never even REMEMBERED him. I always thought he was just a figure that they made, like a lot of the toys they did. That's one thing I wish they would have done differently; made some episodes for the action figures that never had one, like from what I can remember: Triceritron, Tokka/Razar (only in the movie right?), Wyrm, the Kangeroo guy, evil Pizza Cheif, Scratch, Doctor El, Monty Moose, Sandstorm, Halfcourt, Hothead, and especially Scale Tail.

If you're talking about unused characters that had action figures, Super Shredder himself quickly comes to mind. That 2 minutes in the movie wasn't nearly enough to show his capabilities off. They really should have featured him in the cartoon, perhaps as a part of a grand finale for the Shredder/Krang era. Would have been much better than to just let them fade away into cartoon obscurity.

Yea I wasn't really happy about the way Krang and Shredder were treated in the last seasons. Here they were THE guys for the first like 6 seasons, and then....poof

Tokka and Rahzar did have a cameo in an early season 8 episode.

it was Season 7, and the episode was Dirk Savage: Mutant Hunter in which Tokka and Rahzar appeared.

I have the VHS tape for Planet of the Turtleoids, I watched it just the other day. I've had it ever since it was released on VHS, and have only watched it like twice. My favorite line from that episode was when Bebop said while walking in a barn...

"Look Boss, moo-moo's and duckies."
