What did you like about TMNT (2014)?
I'm sure it's been covered in other posts but what, if anything, did you like about the 2014 film? What aspects would you want them to retain for the second film? I know people have issues with Shredder looking like he's 'part transformer' as I've seen it put, but for the most part I liked the portrayal of his character.

The Turtles Splinter and Shredder actually fighting each other. The snowchase scene. Splinter actually fighting The Generic Foot.

If it wasn't for the fact that I respect different opinions and the right to them... I'd not speak to you again.
(So much I wish Jackass would be too busy for it...)I remain liking various bits and pieces. |

Fictner's line delivery and the texture work on the cgi models off the Turtles
(not the color work, and not the models themselves just the textures) I guess also the actors who played the Turtles, but sadly they got nothing to work off on. And even Noel Fisher learned to use the nunchaku, but it was never used. |

Really liked Shredder's armor. People only compare it to transformers because of Bay. It was bound to be over the top in an action orientated tmnt. Transformer faces were inspired by samurai masks anyway.
Also liked the turtles being April's childhood pets. I liked that everyone's origin connected.

At one point, it ended.
![]() Aah... Noel Fisher was pretty good? I mean, aside from the script he had to work with, and that version of Mikey was a total creeper, but there was a lot of potential in his performance. Minae Noji could have made a great Karai, but the movie made her a glorified extra, sadly.

Great post!
- Fichtner, Fichtner, Fichtner.. this guy never disappoints in his roles. - The Turtles' personalities and interactions with eachother - The flashback to the Turtles in their youth - CGI throughout the film was pretty solid - The humor - Stuck to who the Turtles were at their core--Donny, tech guy.. Mikey-Silly, etc - The inclusions of core characters: April, Splinter, Shredder, TMNT (of course) and even Vernon was a nice touch |

-The Turtles themselves, although I'd still take Pete over Knoxville.
-The fight scenes were spectacular because I could actually SEE what was going on, unlike the Transformers movies. -The CGI was great. -The acting honestly wasn't that bad. Hell, even Megan Fox gave her best performance (THAT'S NOT SAYING MUCH, THOUGH.) -It was vague on where the mutagen came from so it could be used as a plot device for the sequel. |

Favorite parts of the film itself...
* Elevator, of course. * When they're all hovering over April after she's passed out. (And the "Omg what do we do?? We're not even supposed to be out of the house!" that could be going through their heads. ) * Love the adrenail rush, esp when the three of them are like "We gotta help Raph!" and go falling splat to the lower floor. Heh. * My fave shots of ol' blue boy. Pretty unanimously these models aren't too appealing, but he's still got it when he wants to. * That shot of Raph just chillin' in the back of the van and his snarly "Cowabunga." And when he startles Vern in the van of course. * I do like that the couple times Raph was in Leo's face, Leo stood his ground but never raised a hand, even when shoved. While these film makers/writers seem to only have (or bothered to have) a very basic understanding of the characters, Leo's reaction in those moments was great. (And perhaps credit should heavily go to Pete for the physical performance. |

The more I watch the film, the more I see things I like and dislike. But what has occurred to me lately, is that I honestly think they tried. Just maybe the wrong people tried. Those invested and those who produced and wrote the script seemed to care enough to try. I don't think anybody went into this hoping to half a** it, but I think many ideas were misdirected and made without fans involved. It was made to appeal to a casual viewing audience, and from that perspective it did its job. When we get a producer who is so savagely invested in the source-material, then we will get a movie we can all love. Until then we can sharpen our teeth on what is made for production companies to turn a profit.

The turtles themselves of course ! Screw what people say about their faces, I love them like that. The action sequences were great, Splinter was badass and I loved the interaction between the brothers.

![]() Having read the Blue Door script, Raph and Mikey never had swapped personalities. All four Turtles had accurate personalities... oh God, I'm actually defending the Blue Door script. But trust me, that's, like, the ONLY thing it got right. Say "no" to hot Turtle chicks. And say "no" to Leo eye-fvcking Raph... 'cause that translates multiple ways, people.
