Couldn't Resist A Re-design

I guess I was inspired by that dude who whipped up some shoops the first time around. I was screencapping the HD trailer & this shot of Mikey just kinda left me unsettled, mostly due to how far apart his eyes were. So I moved them closer together. Once I had done that, I couldn't help but continue to tinker with his features & I was ultimately left with a rather familiar look.

So, what if?

You're a freaking miracle worker. That looks at least 100 times better.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but something just seems....off.

IDK, when it comes to realistic Turtle designs, the Out of the Shadows video game look would be my preference.

So this would still be considered awful? Because noses suck? Seriously people, complain all you want about size, clothes and lips but nostrils should be there. In the cartoons too.

Ehhhhhh.... I like the unaltered more. It'd work better if his head was the same shape as the original picture instead of that 1990 shape.

You'd think so, but that was not the case, I found. Hadda pad it out a little. I guess I should've kept a WIP to prove myself, but alas...

Ha, Thats because the mouth part on the old turtles are rounded and stick out like an ape. Not because of two simple holes.

It says more about the old designs, which I do love, but are in no way a realistic representation of a humanoid turtle face.

Leo is best looking out of the PD Turtles but that wasn't my point.

It's that people hating for the turtles to have even two simple holes for nostrils. Not the Shrek-like nose. Obviously that does not look good.

Yes, that is correct. I never said otherwise. It just struck me like DK.

I also never said they were a realistic representation of a humanoid turtle face. For one, no such thing exists. It was just a vision of what I'd like to see, something more synonymous with the "classic" look. Das all, mane.

I was actually tempted to leave it in, honestly! It's not that bad, at least compared to the stuff he had on last time. But that's just my tastes.

I dunno about anyone else but my not including nostrils wasn't meant to be a statement against them. Out Of The Shadows (the game) did a killer job making use of nose holes. I just didn't feel they'd work terribly well with my rendition.

Ok, I mean, yeah - TMNT have never looked particularly turtle-ish....but the nostrils a really distracting on faces so broad and blank...

I think it's that, no matter how you do it, the nostrils draw a lot of attention to themselves. Yes, even in OOTSVG. it may be incorrect, even impossible to have no nostrils IRL, but so would the ned for a flexible spine to do half the **** they do...

@ Powder, ya a humanoid turtle face is up to interpretation. There's no standard although some ultra-realistic fan art is hideous.

I didn't know if you were totally against nostrils. I've just seen complaints about them various times.

@ Commenter 42, ya well they're just 2 simple holes. I think they look fine on any design. They don't even need to be very big. Those who find them too distracting just aren't used to them.

On top of the "nose". Not smack in the middle of the face.

I'm not exactly for them, but as evidenced by OOTS, they can be done justice. I don't particularly care for how they look in the new films, but that's more due to the nose bump than the holes themselves (like with Mikey, eugh). Leo, who has a more "normal" TMNT face, doesn't suffer from having them at all, looks just fine.

LOL, much better! You made his overall face look a little closer to the '90 film's version.

@ Powder, Ya like I said Leo looks fine. Honestly though I don't like the OoTS video game look. They're too flatfaced. This is the best live action interpretation I've seen. Minus the out-line around the mouth, like Homer Simpson.

It's simple, shows character and has enough turtle in it with the shape and "beak". Just put some basic holes for nostrils. I know it been shown before just thought I'd give an example.

I could stomach these abominable movies if the Turtles looked like this (Powder's).

I don't know how they could get everything about these movies so horribly wrong.
