Good music in the 1987 toon

I thought I'd share bits and pieces of the soundtrack which I think made it more memorable for me. You guys could share as well.

There was this moment in The Missing Map where Krang is going to extract information from Zack. At 10:06 of the video, the moment begins when Krang asks Zack to just give up the information. The sound in the background actually gives me chills especially when Krang starts talking and orders the mutants to extract info from his brain. The sound of that chortling brain demanding that his brain be extracted which I think would sound painful and the music in the background is a chilling moment.

In Cyber Turtles I like the soundtrack where Shredder breaks in the Glaxxon ship. It's creepy and ominous and it kind of reminds me of something I heard in Metroid. It starts at 5:46

This is the famous TMNT battle theme and Shredder and Splintered showed it for the first time and I always thought this song made the battles more exciting and tense, like they encountered a major enemy. I kind of wished they would have fought Krang with this song but it's a great tune. It starts at 8:25.

All the BGM in the original cartoon was godly. It has the best background music of any show I've ever watched.

I think one of the best things about the OT was its music. It made the show better than it actually was. I like most of it, but the most notable ones for me are:

1. red sky intro theme and ending theme.
2. The music that plays when Berserko attacks the Turtles, Shredder and others at the Hall of Science in Get Shredder.
3. The music that plays when Donatello fights Shredder near the end of Night of the Dark Turtle.
4. The music that plays when the Technodrome is moving briefly in Rock around the Block (Krang says victory is theirs).

Yea, the FW series had great background music, indeed. Even after some of it disappeared as the show went on until it got replaced with new tracks in the Red Sky seasons, it was still good.

I never understood why the sewer music(you know the one that plays in the first episode when Splinter is telling their story to April) pretty much disappeared after season 4.

A shame it was never released on CD. Powder's got some nice remixes of it, though.

It's really sad to think that the tapes are rotting in some dank basement, if they aren't nonexistent at this point.

There should be a way have a soundtrack. I would love to have a complete soundtrack. The one in the missing map I mentioned in the first post is pretty creepy and probably would be something I'd hear in the Red Sky Season and would make a great alternative Krang theme.

Has any TMNT TV series music been released to CD?

Nothing for CD, but I've done the best I can in the way of 4Kids and Nick, but the OT was mixed in stereo - maybe even mono - so nothing can be done for that.

A lot of great tunes in the OT. Hell even the sad tuba sounding Bebop and Rocksteady theme was great.

I think the soundtrack must be released. Or at least remixes of those songs should be made for sure. Red Sky seasons had a lot of good soundtracks. I remember the song they used in the final battle of Lord Dregg which was great, too.

Love the music. Best places to contact is Intrada and La La Land Records for a OST release. They won't answer my e-mail but if you guys get through would love to hear their response.

I was searching iTunes for some tmnt music and I found a LP called Let's Kick Shell. It was released on 24 December 2015 and contains two themes from the OT: the original opening and ending themes.

And both of them clearly mediocre covers and not the originals.

All seriousness though, I have for years wanted the OT soundtrack to be released, the only way I think it has a chance to happen is if we start an email and snailmail letter campaign to the companies. I'd be willing to help organize it if I can get some other forum veterans to assist.

Well they won't listen to one e-mail so if we petition as a group that might work.

I really liked the music from when they were chasing the Technodrome in the turtle van in 'The Big Blow Out'

For me, my favourite soundtrack is that heroic battle music that used in later seasons; such as "Dirk Savage: Mutant Hunter" (timestamp 2:09) and "Get Shredder" (timestamp 18:23)

Get Shredder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2c09jPPBLA

I always preferred the music from the first 3 seasons. I know the song you're referring to where April's in the sewer and Splinter tells their origin story (at 5:23): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luYfiKxqFiU I've always loved that song! And you're right - it wasn't used much after season 3, shame.

I love that music, it's a mix of synth 80s with traditional Japanese.

Never thought of it that way, but it makes sense!
