What was better? Red Sky or Fastforward/Btts?

I've seen alot of people compare the main seasons of OT and 2k3 but i havent seen people compare the last few seasons of both shows which changed the tone quite a bit.

Which do you like better, the red sky seasons of the fred wolf cartoon or the fastforward/back to the sewers seasons of the 2k3 cartoon?

Personally, i liked the red sky episodes better since the darker and apocalyptic setting fitted the ending of the show. Also, i like the setting of staying in current day new york city instead of going into the future and lastly, i liked the new characters in red sky much better (lord dregg, mung and beserko) as well returning cameos of old OT characters like casey jones and the rat king.

Season 8 of TMNT(1987) was fantastic, but way too short! The new characters ere compelling, but Shredder and Krang appeared and only four episodes with this new edginess to them.

I especially liked how they developed shredder and krangs relationship in these last few seasons. Seeing them legitamately care for each other felt strangely adorable. It was a fresh change from the bickering married couple dynamic which became standard in season 3 and lasted for quite a while, despite how enjoyable and entertaining it was.

This is just my opinion but I prefer Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers to Red Sky. There are some characters that I actually enjoyed. Cody Jones was a pretty interesting character and I loved Starlee Hambrath. She was a very sassy, down-to-earth character that I wished was explored a bit more. And I love it's variety of new enemies such as Darius Dun, Jammerhead, Torbin Zixx, dark turtles, the Inuwashi Gunjin.

Red Sky I disliked mainly because it turns a loved cartoon into something it's not. While I'm one for a darker interpretation, the OT's charm was it's lighter but clever and sharp sense of humor. There were just too many changes that made it lose itself for me. When handling TMNT with a darker tone, there are specific ways to make it work. And coming off from what the OT was in tone into something that it was never meant to be, it came off as a dicey move that unfortunately didn't pay off. I've heard some say that Archie is what the OT should have changed to later on (akin to the earliest issues to the later ones) and I won't deny that Archie has some pretty interesting stories but its' overall direction differentiates itself from the cartoon that going in that specific route really isn't any better.

On a personal note, I have some grips with how Archie handles established properties, most notably Sonic. Although I heard their Mega Man comics are pretty solid.

Tough question. I did enjoy the Fast Forward season (Back To The Sewer not so much). However, I absolutely loved the red sky seasons of the original cartoon. It's exactly what I had always wanted the original cartoon to be.

Thanks for your opinion man i really like hearing all of these different preferences people have without flaming one another. I think I should put a poll on this thread. Not sure how though, still a little new around here.

I think I like Fast Forward better than Red Sky, but Red Sky better than BTTS.

Fast Forward and BTTS.
Red Sky was extremely clumsy, clunky and awkward change, which arrived too late in the game.
Most of the secondary characters and second class villains were eradicated, Shredder and Krang were replaced with lame mutant blob and wannabe Power Ranger villain. Writing was awkward and it felt like creators changed a lot on the fly. As if they did not know how to wright dark(er) TMNT show with something resembling heavy continuity. Most of the new characters were lame or one off, even more so, than most of the B-cast from first 7 seasons.

FF and BTTS were downgrades from first five seasons, but not to the point, where I felt like I watching completely different show or missed several seasons in between. Besides, there were some genuinely good episodes and interesting characters, so it was not a complete waste.

Personally I liked both but the Fast Forward is a bit underrated?

I choose Red Sky! I don't care what the rest of the fanbase says but I liked that version of Dregg. As I've said before here, Tony Jay was reason enough not to hate him and he had a really good design to accompany him. If someone wants to bash me over the head for him being so embraced by the humans at first (and for how long it went), I'd at least hope that they'd understand that it's one of the reasons I'd deduct points off of my 0-10 scale. I also liked how he tried to appeal to the turtles at first before the "me versus them" stage was set for the rest of the episodes involving him.

I voted Red Sky, it seemed interesting what they did rather than the whole let's take the Turtles into the future idea.
