Emilio Estevez and the TMNT

A few of you probably know about this but aaaanyway... I bought "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1" on DVD today. It's a "spoof" movie along the lines of "Hot Shots" and "Scary Movie", and it stars Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson in a parody of action cop flicks like Lethal Weapon. Very funny movie.

Anyway, I hadn't watched it in a few years and there was a part I can't believe I forgot about. Near the end, Emilio's character is about to break into a cookie factory to bust up a drug deal set up by William Shatner of all people (you'll be amazed how many people have cameos in this movie... Dennis Leary, Phil Hartman, even Emilio's brother Charlie Sheen in a funny spot), and the only way he can get in is through the sewer. He comes up the wrong manhole cover, and behind him we see: the scene from the first TMNT movie, with Donnie, Mike and Raph playing Trivial Pursuit! Raphael asks the question, Emilio pops his head up and yells "War and Peace!" and Donnie looks down and goes "Huh?!" as Emilio drops back down into the sewer.

I completely forgot about that scene. My girlfriend never saw the movie and she almost wet herself from laughing so hard.

I forgot to mention that Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Lovitz, the Best/Worst Actor in History Tim Curry, and my boy Corey Feldman are also in it. Oh, and Bruce Willis. It's like playing "Spot the Guest Stars".

I'm also noticing that Tim Curry has a thing for dressing in drag...

There's a scene early on when Samuel L. Jackson wanders onto the scene of a "domestic dispute". He orders all the cops not to shoot until he says so, gets on the megaphone and orders them to "throw down your hands and come out with your weapons up!" Naturally, the people in the building rain down a hail of bullets, and one cop fires back, that cop being Corey Feldman in a "blink and you'll miss it cameo", mostly recognizable after Sam takes his gun and tells him "if you're a good boy, you'll get it back." Which leads directly into another officer's celebrity cameo (Phil Hartman, laughing at Corey Feldman).

"Oh... we think that's FUNNY, Officer Davis? Well maybe Officer Davis can make us ALL laugh!" (cue Phil Hartman getting up on an improv stage and doing the worst stand-up bit in history)

Davis: "What do you call 20,000 lawyers at the bottom of the sea? A GOOD START!

*joke drum*

Davis: "Say, why did the guy give a name to his penis? Well, he didn't want a stranger making all of his decisions!

*joke drum*

Luger: (to another cop) "Make sure he doesn't get any donuts..."

Of course you do... you're as "bad" as me when it comes to remembering movie quotes, maybe even worse (my circle of friends think I'm insane because there are a lot of movies I have damn near encyclopedic knowledge of... just movies though, not cartoons or tv shows)

T'was merely for the benefit of those here who hadn't seen it. Thanks for filling in the gaps, though.

Reminds me of the scene where Decker (or was it "Becker"?) keeps going, "I didn't do nothin'!", and Luger corrects him..."Nothing, nothing, not 'nothin'', it's nothing..."

Omigah... I've seen this movie before, but I totally don't remember the TMNT cameo. Hmm... I'll be going to Best Buy sometime this week. Maybe I can pick up the DVD.

Samuel Jackson: Not so fast!

*the guy running in the hall slows down*

Samuel Jackson: That's better!
