what do we know of Krang's past?

he was banished from Demension X. He was ahsamed to let his rock army see him like he was (in brain form) so he must have once been a humanoid lifeform. Do we know anything else? anyone have any theories or fan backstories for Krang? He's a very intriguing character once u get past the sterotypical 1 dimensional bad guy plague he and Shredder suffered.

I was always under the impression that Krang was once a Stone Warrior (of Tragg's race, not the smaller, grey race), who was tried for War Crimes, and banished from the Dimension and lost his body along the way. I'm not really sure where I got that last part, but it's been part of my understanding of his character for years.

I don't know the facts for this, but it looks like the artists modled him after utroms.

In episode #168 Invasion of the Krangezoids, krang clones himself. His clones eventually regain their body. If i can find a pick of them i'll post it. And they really don't resemble stone warriors at all.

In one of the episodes, they have a flashback where they show Krang in his bubble walker working in a lab with a bunch of other "Kranglike" creatures, who are also in bubble walkers. The way I figure it, his "body" was nothing more than a host android shell.

i must say that i like the krang-design best (the one who needs machines to move)

what made it fascinating was that krang was so bloody evil but so weak. i'm sure he can't even open a bag of crisps with those tentacles. BUt he can work out the most brilliant plans to take over the world.

i always liked the eps where krang got bashed or had to move on his own (turtles on trial, beware of the lotus, the power of three, the one with berserko. did i miss one?) because it showed the kinda schizophrenia of Krang: evil but weak. Fascinating

What we know:
Krang once ruled over dimension x with a body like the ones his clones have in Invasion of the Krangezoids. From what was seen in the Four Musketurtles doesn't prove that the bubble walker was their "body." If you remember in Invasion of the Krangezoids they all started out as simple brains like Krang. The clones however, grew much faster than normal and gained their full body at a pace much faster than Krang originally did. Krang says in Four Musketurtles it was their first test of dimensional transporting which means it was probably in his early years when he was still a simple brain in a bubble walker. Then, for crimes his body was somehow removed and he was banished to Earth. He probably figured that he could easily conquer the Earth if he simply had the technology to do so. Sometime in the future, he met Drakus (Beserko) who was from Get Shredder whom helped him design the technodrome but this wasn't enough. Krang needed some way of getting the materials, equipment, and men to build the technodrome. Sometime later he met Shredder and promised him unlimited power if he helped him. Shredder probably then called the members of the foot clan to help them steal the materials and help build the technodrome. The foot members probably revolted and left so Krang and Shredder designed the robotic foot soldiers to finish the job. During the final stages of construction (for example: the portal wasn't working until ep 4), the series started.
That is the best I can do my friends.

Actually, I think we're infringing on a simple script inconsistency here, because the flashback in "Four musketurtles" was written a few years before "Krangzoids". I think the writers there had different ideas of what Krang's body was. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense that all others of his race were in bubble walkers, but then later Krang's clones grew real bodies. They just didn't stick with a consistent definition of Krang's body.

Exactly, since the show had so many writers, there wasn't really any continuity. But since it has been said everywhere that Krang did have a body, I think it looked like those in Invasion of the Krangezoids.

1) I don't think there were any separate "races" of Stone Warriors

2) Granitor (the grey one) looked bigger than Traag if you ask me.

This whole topic does bring up a good question: What were the terms of Krang's punishment. The show was never really clear on that. I suppose if the comics had Krang, they would go into a deeper explanation of things. But it just doesn't really make sense to punish him by taking away his body, but leaving his superintelligent mind to roam free. Something else must have happened, but not sure what.

Well in wrath of the rat king, krang had the weapon known as the shockwave and since he was unable to use it since he lost his body (i'm assuming this means he couldn't have used it w/ his android body so he most have had an original body)he wanted shredder to use it.
