1st Movie question

In the first TMNT, why is it that Raph's the one who's beaten to near-death by the Foot instead of Leo? It's always Leo who's beaten in every other version of that story, IE the comic and the new cartoon. Anyone know why they changed it and used Raph for that plot instead in the first movie? Thats something I've been pondering on for a while.

I'm guessing because Raph in that movie was the one who went into a tantrum and decided to leave instead of Leo? Also because if Leo was the one to go, it might have lost some effect with the kids watching it (would've been TOO tragic for them to watch at the time to see the leader get almost killed instead of another character).

Yeah, they decided to develop Raph's character the most in the movie, so I gues thats why they had him pummeled to near death

Indeed, Raph seemed to be the focus on the first movie more than the others, at least in the first half. In the beginning with the loss of the sai and the cursing, then his meeting April and Casey and bringing them into the Turtles world, his one on one with Splinter, and finally being beaten near to death and his recovery.

I've noticed the TMNT movie Rap-song called Raphael "The Leader of the Group" when that's suppossed to be Leonardo.

I thought we went over this a long time ago...it's not referring to the turtles in the song, but SPLINTER!

"Splinter's the teacher and they are the students
(Leonardo Michelangelo, and Donatello...make up the team with other fella Raphael)
He's the leader of the group...."

The parentheses make all the difference there.

Raphael is the best Turtle so that's why he got the most focus!

I notice that Raph blames for himself in the movies. His charater is hot-head. Yeah the movie staff did focus on Raph a little too much. But atleast a good number of people like the first movie.

I got into the habbit back in 1992 or 93' when I was little. I would like to thank my 2 year older cousin for getting me in the habbit. 2001 was when I revised my knowledge on TMNT. And today I'm a bigger fan than I was years ago. I have all 3 TMNT Movies, current Toon, and old school Toon on DVD.

Ahh, I thank ye, Rez, I had not known that lil tidbit of information... I'd also always thought it was a typo. Now I can listen and be content....

I have a question about the 1st movie too but i'm too lazy too make a thread for it.

When the turtles are celebrating on the rooftop after Casey and April kiss what is it that Raph said the first time? It sounded like mitchin? or $itchin or something, not sure.
