TMNT get together
I'm new at this forum, but are there any TMNT get togethers? Like unofficial fan-meets or something of that nature?
Do you know of any that are planned for the future?

The only ones I know of are Comic Conventions. Like the San Diego Comic Con. A handful of TMNT fans go there every year and usually hang out together. I'm sure you could find them crawling around other conventions as well. But there's nothing really Turtle-centered.

NTML?
NTML? what is it?
I know from the news group a ton of people met in CA, but like I live in NY! I made it out to the Chicago comic con this year and asked the group if anyone else was going, and no one could make it. Perhaps i'll try to go to the next signing. If anyone wants to plan some sort of fan meet up, that would be really cool!

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tmnt/ But yeah, we usually have our get togethers during comic cons. Sometimes, there might be other fan get togethers, but they are often small and regional. And not publically announced very often. |

Couldn't you also go to the #tmnt-files channel on the dejatoons server? I know most people usually just download eps, but sometime, people talk.

I did notice that once-upon-a-time there was a TurtleCon in Portsmouth, NH (geez... my home state and I don't know if I even spelled it right).
If there was one, or was going to be one, (HEY! What a splendid idea!), I hope it'd be there. It's so much cheaper, and I wouldn't have to rent hotel rooms or live out of my car for days at a time.Of course, there's nothing stopping the fans from uniting. Heck, if I had the cash, I'd sponsor the event, even if we had to have it in my backyard

I'm on NTML, I just never knew the abbreviation.
Well there's a Pittsburgh Comic Con in April (around the 3rd week usually), anyone live close enough to make it?

But, if you're interested Space, would you mind traveling aways to Michigan? I know a couple friends who have pulled together something called Turtle Fans Unite (aka United Turtle Fans). They like to set up a booth at the con too, just to boost TMNT fan moral. http://www.dazzled.com/turtlefans/index.html Just a suggestion though. Having an east coast gathering for TMNT fans too is prolly better. Heaven knows the folks on the east hardly get any good Turtley comic con action (while those on the west coast are soaking in San Deigo comic con goodness) I usually try to make it to the Motor City Comic Con near Detroit Michigan every year in May. I could just go to the Chicago con, or something closer. but this con in Detroit is very freindly to TMNT fans. It has the most stuff there, than most others... I heard. The Turtle Fan club is going around and trying to encourage the TMNT companies like Mirage, Playmates, and Dreamwave artists to go out to the Motor City con next year too... it being the TMNT's 20th anniversay an all. Who knows what will happen. I'm hoping for the best! |

Well he meant live, in-person get togethers tho, not more lists/forums, of course those are good places to meet and get to konw other fans.
But yeah cons are the best place to meet up. The Motor City Con is a great con to go to, HT is right. I hope to go again this year.

These get togethers would be during the summer right? So people in school can go.

This sounds like it could be nifty
Well, I have an in at a place with a convention centre right in my hometown (it's upscale dining, and beleive me, the food is GREAT if they cater. I should know, I worked there Quote:
And we get stuff in NYC and some stuff in Boston, but I'm all the way out in the boonies. At least Portsmouth is in-state for me. Convient for me, not to anyone else though

Chicago?
I've never been to Detroit, but wouldnt Chicago make a little more sense? Flights would be cheaper there and its centerally located. Then on the other hand I know of several artists who hate the way Wizard runs the Chicago con, and it is pretty crowded. I dunno, I guess I could do Detroit.
It would be nice to do something closer to the east coast as well. Didnt last year Laird & Eastman got together in MA for a signing? I think I remember something about that on the mailing list. Being the 20th ann. and all perhaps we could all e-mail both of them and see if they are willing to plan something for the summer, even if its just another signing!?

All this...
sounds fun. It sucks that I have school and live in Louisiana, it's hard to find ppl interested in TMNT down here. And I have never heard of a Comic Con down here. *sighs*

While it is true that most areas do not have large conventions, do not be afraid to hunt down smaller ones! You might be surprised what you would find. Long ago in Minneapolis I felt the same way. Then I discovered small shows in the area that I would go to regularly. And by small I mean small. Just one little room with dealers in a hotel for an afternoon. But every year there was an annual show that was bigger than the rest and lasted a weekend. Over the years that grew into a fairly large show.
Where I am now in CA I had no expectations to find any kind of little show, but then I discovered there's an upcoming show in a high school cafeteria. People everywhere love comics, do a little research and you never know. I believe I first discovered the small shows in the back of Previews. And trust me, if you want to actually shop for comic books, the small shows is where to find them!!! The big shows now have greater focus on other aspects of entertainment than they do on comic books. I think I can count all the comic books I've bought at Comic-Con over the years on one hand. And the small shows will also have better prices. I can't even begin to tell you the deals I've found there (example: First print of TMNT Vol. 1 #2 for $2.75).
