Which version of the Original Cartoon theme was better? (not counting Red Sky).

The Original Cartoon as we all know has an extremely iconic and catchy theme, which is frequently bought up when people talk about the best 80s and 90s cartoon theme songs. However, while the song itself was the same for the first 7 seasons, it has two different animated versions.

The first version ran from Season 1 until the 13th of Season 4, as well as the European Vacation sideseason:

The second version ran from Season 4, episode 14 until the end of Season 7:

So which one do you think is better? I actually prefer the second one for having turtle designs just like the actual show itself, while the first theme song's turtles look a tad more detailed and anime-esque than what we have in the show.

Additionally, the second version has two cool ways of the turtles logo transitioning, first from the moon in the beginning and then from the pizza the end, while the first version does not have any transition whatsoever. I also think it's really cool how the second version has the turtles speak "their" lines such as "We're really hip", and "That's a fact, Jack!"

Shredder could've done more than blow up the Channel Six building. I don't mean as far as murdering Splinter, but think of the possibilities if censors were not an issue.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

I actually like the techno beat variation of the 1987 cartoon the best. I know that I am in a minority but that is my favorite theme of the franchise.

I like most prefer the original intro/theme but I liked that they changed it, it's always neat to see a new opening in a show. I think the animation while inferior to the first intro is still great. I just wish it had a different theme, I associate that song with the original intro so it always feels odd with the new intro, it should've had some type of remix of the original theme.

You forgot to mention the third theme, I don't think it includes original animation, I'm pretty sure it's all stock footage from the show and first movie for whatever reason. But I do love the theme, its a nice new rendition of the TMNT theme and it works really well.

I don't know if this counts as a remix, but some episodes with the post-season 4 animation had the theme shortened down to 30 seconds and some sounds effects added, I find it to be pretty cool.

I didn't include it on purpose because I just wanted to compare the two animations between the same theme song used in the first 7 seasons. I agree though, the Red Sky theme is pretty cool though and I like how it includes characters like Rat King, Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady who never appeared in any theme song before.

I found it funny also how the Red Sky song till referred to Shredder as the main villain even during the episodes where Lord Dregg replaced him.

Of the two options, I prefer the second one (seasons 4-7). But If we were including the red sky version, that would definitely get my vote.

I'm not familiar with this version of the theme. Are you referring to the Red Sky opening?
