Is Splintered fate a longer version of the 12 page comic they put out digitally? Since this is $3.99 and the 12 page one is $1.99?

Possible? Though I seriously doubt there is more story content if that is the case, it seems more likely to me that it would be extended with concept art for the game or something else that doesn't actually make the actual comic longer.

It seems like IDW was trying to capitalize on the success of the "Cowabunga Collection" games released last year with the collection, but now these original cartoon comics kinda missed the boat for tie-in promotion. In a time of IDW hurting in sales I'm not sure putting out these comics about the original cartoon is really worth it.

The crossovers will probably sell well since all the crossovers do, so I can understand Street Fighter and Stranger things when the Power Ranger crossovers, the Batman ones, and Usagi have all done well.

I mean, TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures became an ongoing following the mini pretty quickly and it IS based on the most iconic incarnation of the brand as far as the general public goes, so I don't think it's a stretch to believe that it's done well and will continue to do well. (Not to mention that you've got a new movie coming out soon that'll no doubt drive further sales.)

Plus, I believe that a lot of IDW's troubles were from their non-comic endeavors, so I don't think just an extra TMNT book could potentially cripple them.

Dr. Barlow and Leatherhead do need a follow-up after Krang was removed from him, so I'm glad to see this plotline tended to. I do hope Dr. Barlow is killed off after this as he's a pretty minor villain, and see Leatherhead either go off on his own or befriend the Turtles.

Maybe Raph should leave Alopex. I'm so tired of this Netflix teen romance crap. Thinking of Campbell might make Leo fall in love with a bloody murderer mutant falcon. And that just repeatedly ruins his entire character.

I'm wondering if the ongoing status of SMA is more about IDW being obligated to put out a child friendly alternative to the main book, rather than the first mini doing well. They did keep putting out Nick 2012 based books throughout the run of that show, despite not selling that well, not to mention some Rise based books. I wouldn't really be surprised if SMA is only published for 25 issues or less (quite possibly closer to 12 than 25) before it's replaced by a Mutant Mayhem based book.

Maybe Raph can spark a little romance with Mona Lisa this time.

I also thought the arc title was ironic, 'Damage Done'.

Leatherhead gets an unofficial 5th appearance! It's interesting to see the Raphael/Donatello pairing that happened often in the '87 cartoon with Michelangelo and Leonardo captured. I would rather see Michelangelo than Donatello in that given scenario, but whatever. We get to see the lesser known half of the Punk Frogs quartet so that's awesome. I assume it's self-contained unlike the opening story.

I thought this Mona Lisa wasn’t into non-human mutants? She seemed freaked out and disgusted by the revelation that they were regular turtles before they mutated.

Besides, Mona will probably experiment with lesbianism as a lot of college girls do instead of just latching onto the next turtle, and considering who the current writer is, would you really be that surprised if that did happen?

I think the Raph x Alopex romance was earned throughout the course of the comic's run. Though it was handled so poorly by Campbell alongside everything else in the Mutant Town arc, so maybe it is time to just separate them and let them be their own things. I just wish Alopex's "Own Thing" isn't going back to that dumbass "girl power" squad with Nobody. Hopefully she and the weasels make something new and Nobody can go back to being... nobody.

As for the other potential romances... please no. No other character relationships have been brewing over the course of the comic, so anything new is just gonna seem forced and stupid. Leo x Koya is legit one of the worst ideas I've ever heard from the comic. And Mona Lisa needs to be redeveloped as a character before anyone thinks of pairing her with anything. Mona is ****ing rock-bottom in terms of character likeability right now, and she needs another "shtick" than annoying social justice activist so she can become a real character again.

Huh. I got the impression the current writer likes the D.

I'm not sure if this is intentional. But after #100, the four turtles become even more sentimental, shilly-shally.

Because it went from 12 pages to a full paged comic at 22 pages I'm guessing. They released half a comic early digitally to make money.
